What have you been whittling with your traditionals?

I still ain’t tried one of those yet. I’m still on a spoon kick. Lately it’s been larger ones. I had one about 1/2 done on the bowl and accidentally stepped on it and broke the handle. Now I’m making a spoon rest or dish out of the bowl.

Ain’t done much lately though I did use my 75 case to fit the handle into the socket of a hatchet.

The 75 Case Stockman is indeed a knife i would consider for axe handles whittling. 4 .1/4 inches handles are comfortable and make the knife easy to control. I like to use my 4 inches long GEC 81 Stockman for that job.

Dan.

Made a tusk mortise and tenon joint, just to see if I could do it with an Opinel No. 06.

Here’s a quick and easy project. Hickory n steel Hickory n steel ’s brass top gave me the idea to whittle a wooden one:

It only spins for between 10 and 15 seconds, but I’m surprised it spins at all considering how irregular it is:

I’m sure slimming and shortening the stem, and smoothing out the rough bits will increase the performance considerably if I decide to work on it some more tomorrow. It’s a minimal commitment of time for the amount of fun you can get from it, and I’m sure pretty much everybody can find a suitable stick to use.

Edit:
I see EngrSorenson EngrSorenson beat me to it.

EngrSorenson didn’t beat you to anything. We’re all just doing what our forefathers already did.

I whittled a top for my boy for Christmas. Let’s see if I can find it.
