Have multiple hinderers they are not even in the ball park.

Agree to disagree. I owned a Shiro before and didn’t think the action was anything too special compared to tri-way Hinderers. It’s good but the difference was negligible.

I like the norsmans polarizing blade shape its what drew me to it. Same reason I love ckf rotten evos and borka designs. That is what I was originally sold on but im not sure I will like the bounce back from the guillotine action after watching some videos on it. I love the hydralic slower drop action which I beleive the shirogorovs and koenigs tend to be.
One thing about my Shiro (quantum Ursus) was that it had NO bounce back on closing.

I mean like I said I have some ZTs 0920, 0308, 0462, 0452ti, 0392 that have superior action to my hinderers and all the hinderer I own are newer triways. I even prefer my 0620, 0640 and 0850 washer action to hinderer I just dont think they are anything remotley special in my experience and Ive handled probably 15 or so of em. I will add the ursus is the entry level shiro so im not sure if the action is worse on those than the higher end models I cant imagine it would be significantly different but I dont know know.

I don't have much to offer because im not into flippers or frame locks or M390, but I'd go Shiro. They look amazing and have a very good blade shape. If you're not going to use it then it doesn't matter. A knife has to be a knife more than art for me.

That reminds me of a spyderco kapara just the handle shape. Those appear to be on the smaller side which im not really into. I really prefer 3.5" - 4" blades. The only "small" knives ive ever been happy with were sharp by design mini tempest and mini typhoon. And those arent even really small just have perfect handle to blade ratios. I think ive ended up selling every other small knife ive owned.
The A2 A11 is slightly smaller than the Shiro Stellar. The A11 is 8.125 total and has a 3.5 cutting edge. The Stellar is 8.375 total and has a 3.625 cutting edge.

Les George MK3 also NEEDS to be on your list for smoothness of action. Top top smooth action but not a flipper. Also, they are only $550-$650, if you can find one.

Size comparison , sold my Stellar bc it squeaked, lol.

id say the norseman , but I cant stand that blade. sure its top notch on all regards, but I cant get over that blade shape. rather have the rask.....

so one of the other two...but i dont think ive ever paid over maybe 8 or 900 for a single knife so I got no real place here to give any advice...
This is why I won’t go near them. I love the time, care and precision that goes into them, but imho, man they are the ugliest damn things ever created. Reminds me of one of those weird, awkward, goofy looking sea birds in the Galapagos or something. 😂

Im also not a fan of m390 but it seems to just be the standard now

I have a vecp and a talos they are good and I want a harpy its probably one of my favorite knife designs besides the rj martin overkill. Which is one of the shiros collabs I want more than any other. I saw a white twill carbon one on baldebinge a few weeks ago and about crapped my pants at how beautiful it was.

He mentioned he wants a machined knife because of the perfection it offers. I can understand that as well. Customs are cool but if the grinds are off, it would bother certain types of people.

Most custom makers (that I have dealt with) would catch most such issues before shipping...but not all, and not always.

As my late friend and esteemed maker Kit Carson used to say, making a custom knife doesn't necessarily make it better than a production piece...(we were comparing his work and knives like one would get from CRK, whom he respected greatly)...but it allows the customer to get what he wants in regards to patterns, frame and scale material, steel and length.

Kit was as wise as he was modest.

AI isnt a great solution for custom work. The tattoo world has been in upheaval since the advent of Chat GPT. The amount of basically impossible tattoos I see, not even being an artist myself, is astounding. People that dont actively participate in whatever art they're trying to get work done for dont generally know what can or cant be done.

That said, I once again recommend the koenig arius. Shiros are nice, but probably equally as nice while being more expensive.

If m390 is the issue, I believe new Koenigs can be had in Magnacut. Norseman are generally RWL34, which is to my understanding less likely to chip than M390, but won't hold an edge quite as long.

The blade steel really isnt a factor. I want s90v or m4 but thats not happening. So really it just comes down to overall quality, perfection of action and detent. I want a carbon fiber arius or the alutex shiro i think ive weeded out grimsmo for now. The guillotine action with bounce back im not a fan of.

I have the stellar CF, and it is my favorite knife by far, as far as useability goes. And I have a shiro that cost double the stellar.
However the blade, scales, and sound of the Strip opening are the best ive seen/felt. It opens like an auto.
