What is a good folder for a marine?

If you are interested in Spyderco Enduras and they will definitely go to the service members, I have 2 new in the box I would let go for $100 for the pair shipped to you...just an offer.

Kudos for this fantastic gesture!

I sent over these SAKs a couple of yrs ago. Multi-tools are always welcomed. They are excellent for daily and mundane tasks like opening MRE's, etc.

This set of one Delica, various Enduras is about ready to go...either to deployed or to LEO's. Strong, light, versatile, easily carried.

I recommend all of the mentioned above,
Recon 1 in AUS 8 (tough as nails, great ergos, reliable, cutting beast but heavy)

Voyager in AUS8 too (same as above, but lighter)
Vic OHO knives, like the Soldier or Trekker

and a SAK of some sort, utility in a compact, inexpensive package

I live in Spain, BTW, and can recommend some knives he could buy here, like this Aitor Botero made in here, classic Spanish blade, next to an Ontraio Utilitac II (another folder that would fit your needs quite well)

So my friend and I decided against the enduras. While I would have loved to get them, he did not want to spend too much. He isn't a knife guy and is in a pissy mood so I didn't feel like trying to explain to him anything. Right now it looks like we are getting them rat 1's. I figure they are tough enough to last then a bit and if they do break or get lost they are cheap enough to replace. Any other recommendations are welcome. Probably around the thirty dollar range. I know there aren't many options but that is what we are working with right now

I'm not a Spyderco fan.... at all.

But a couple of VG-10 Enduras would be hard to beat for a couple of Devil Dogs. Especially at a deal like the one in front of you.

Tell your friend to take a Midol and get these Jarheads geared up!

At this point I might just buy them and have him just pay the cost of what a rat 1 costs

any suggestions?

Money is the main problem right now
I personally think a person should buy a bunch of high value knives rather than one ZT. Bucks are American made and are good quality, but are pretty inexpensive . They have modern folders.

Uh... would you mind telling me what is going on with the thumb-stud (thumb... bent screw?) in that Cold Steel Recon 1?? PM me if you want.

BTW... you stated that you live in Spain... Were you born here? Greetings from Bilbao....

+1 on the SAK Trekker.

Loss/theft would be the biggest threat to a Marine's folder to +1 on the CS Voyager - lightweight, tough and affordable, especially in AUS8.

Otherwise, I would vote for the the Adamas 275 and a SAK, like the Trekker.

It's a wave opening mod I did.
Catches the pocket seam when you take it out opening the blade.

I live in Barcelona, Catalonia.

They are going to use this to open MREs and clean their fingernails. A Dragonfly/Delica or any of the many Swiss Army knife options will be perfect, but honestly anything of decent quality will be fine.

Mike.
