What is next in my humble collection?

And I will make it a point not to care if the handle or blade get scratched up because I am going to do my damnedest to have that thing in my pocket everywhere I go. Always. Thanks to Blues Bender for showing me what that thing is capable of handling! That's my goal.

Hmm I don't see a flipper tab. Did you mod it?

15 knives in there eh? That would be tough to guess them all since I can't see them! Nice collection, I love the variety. I have a similar mash up with about 15. And ya I love my insingo but I have been carrying my hinderer's a lot lately.

Yep, it's still got the flipper. I just moded the scale
There was a Mcusta blocking the flipper in the pic.

Lately I've been carrying my olamic wayfarer, I just got it last Tuesday. It's such an awesome knife, and it's freakin huge! I've had 3 people quote crocodile Dundee saying "now that's a knife" when I've pulled it out at work lol. Soon my Seb will be back in my pocket, as soon as I'm done having fun with this bad boy.

Like David and Goliath.

Not a Benchmade fan, sold mine off. Can't help you there.

I'm a big Spydie fan, and have had the Gayle Bradley for a year and a half now. All I can saw is that its a fabulous knife. However, of the three Spydies (GB, PM2, Manix 2) I have in this size (3.5"ish blade), the Manix 2 CTS-XHP sprint run is my favorite.

I like ZT a lot as well. I own the 0770CF (currently awol), 0561, and 0801. They are all great knives.

I don't own or have ever owned a CRK, so I can't comment as well. I almost bought a small Sebbie, but went with this instead:

No regrets. Three Sisters Forge Beast. $300, Ti, CPM-S35VN, 3" blade. Extremely smooth. Carrying it today as a matter of fact.

Wow that is a knife! Nice job on the Southard scale, I got mine from cuscadi.

Thanks! I kind of messed up on the lanyard hole, but that was my first attempt ever at making scales. Sandpaper, power drill, and a dremel. That's all I used. I need a drill press and some carbide bits.

Nice collection man! I'm lovin all that carbonfiber, Kevlar goodness!!

Thanks man, I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now. Definitely see some more crk in my future. I traded a zaan for a Xm and I'm missing it. Also I'd love to get an insingo with micarta and double lugs.

That's a good approach. Put a little away here and there and it will add up quickly. Are you going new or previously owned?

Probably going new. $50/month until I'm there. It's the only way I can discipline myself from going off the rails and buying every knife I see!

Update: I have watched every video on Sebenza 21, 25, large, small, inlay, no inlay, insingo, tanto, clip point, and I'm 90% decided on exactly what I want. What I know I don't want (mostly for EDC reasons) is a wood or mammoth bark inlay, a tanto or clip point blade, or a small sized sebenza. What I know I do want is a Large Sebenza 21 with Insingo blade shape. I'm set on that. So what I am undecided on at this point, is whether to go Micarta or no inlay. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as for positives and negatives. I like the look/U] of the no inlay version better.

I am not sure if you can still get them but the Carbon Fiber scaled version of the Sebenza 21 is phenomenal. It was my first foray into that level of blade and it is funny how it is worth the money…durable, light, feels great every time you open and close it…timeless.

I think I've made up my mind finally thanks to all your posts, the amazing videos people have posted on youtube, and Chris Reeve's knife making skills. It will be a Large Sebenza Insingo in Stone Wash - no inlays. At a rate of $50.00/month put away I should have enough by Summer's End. Also hoping my awesome Wife will throw a little my way here and there if she has a good year selling homes :p Journey to Sebenza begins now!

Since you've decided on a Sebenza, I have a question for you... Do you like deep hollow grinds? If you do, you are good. If not, get a Sebenza 25. I had a 21 and got rid of it after a while because I wasnt a fan of the deep hollow grind. The 25 came along and addressed the one issue that really kept me from liking the sebenzas.

I love my 25. Just another suggestion... The Southern Grind Bad Monkey is the only knife to make me take the 25 out of my pocket. Its about half the price too.

Here they are together

A better shot

Of course Christmas rolled around and a family member bought me a Spyderco Paramilitary 2,

1. Spyderco Gayle Bradley - heavy-duty, great M4 blade
2. Sebenza 25 - 0.140" thick blade. I prefer earlier Sebbies with 0.125" blade...
3. A Benchmade - similar in size and quality to Sebby???? Neva hoppen.
4. A Zero Tolerance knife - Preferably between $150.00 - $300.00, heavy duty and indestructible;
NICE FOLDERS, but generally pretty heavy...as in greater than five ounces....unless you get the model 0770 (nice)

5. what kind of knife I want... I guess you want fairly large, heavy-duty and greater than five ounces. And that's fine, but I go with less than five ounces these days.

Lots of great knives out there. If you could live with a 3" blade, I'd suggest one of the Spyderco Sage or Caly series folders.
Sebbies are wonderful. Check your hand size before you buy a "small" or a "large."
Good luck.

Thank you for the replies! I'm definitely set on the Sebenza 21 with Insingo blade but I'm just wondering about Micarta vs. no inlay. As for Carbon Fiber--it is one of my favorite materials and looks, does it have an inset titanium liner?

Just to throw a wrench in the spokes...the Umnumzaan is looking slightly more appealing to me than it was before. For some reason a lot of people are saying they would keep their Umnum if they had to choose between that and the Sebenza. I have not handled either of them but all these people's comments can't be wrong. I have to say I do like the look of the 21 better. Can anybody tell me what's so great about the Umnum and why, at least from what I've seen, most people prefer it over the Sebenza in general?

It's been a little over 3 months since I made this thread looking for my next knife, and I finally have one on the way (I hope!). Let me put it this way, I sent an email to my wife with a direct link to bladehq for a Large 21 Insingo plain with dual thumb lugs, and 20 minutes later, $445.00 to bladehq was being taken from my bank account (yes we share an acct!), and the sebby was listed as "out of stock". We decided not to take a vacation or buy each other anything for the first two years of our marriage, so we are going all out on our 3rd anniversary on May 19th. Needless to say I am very excited to get my first Sebenza (assuming it's happening :)), and the 3 month wait has done nothing but make me even more excited. Oh yah, and she's getting a custom made yellow gold ring with a large morganite gem! Pictures to come in a few weeks.

UPDATE: I got a sebenza 21 Insingo with double thumb lugs...but it's probably going back to bladeHQ. I received it and the blade is off center by about 2mm. In a lesser knife that I didn't plan on carrying for the rest of my life I would excuse it, but not in a Chris Reeve Sebenza. I don't want to be one of the unlucky .000001% who receive a Sebenza with a slightly warped blade, and a knife with tolerances this tight I worry about the lockbar wearing wrong and compromising the knife years down the line. What do you all think?
