What is on par with Spyderco Military

Most people here agree that the Military is one of the finest production folding knives on the market. The knife itself is very slim and light to the point that you will probably forget that you have it in your pocket. The ergos are excellent with it's oversized curved handle (great if you're wearing gloves or have big hands). CPM-S30V (Spyderco has awesome heat treatment) is an awesome steel and will hold an edge for a long time. I hate to sound like a fanboy, but there aren't many knives that can compare to the spyderco military at that price.

Also, don't be fooled by the lock. It may seem thin, but it's much more likely that the blade will break than the lock failing. It would probably stand up to abuse quite well as long as you don't try to pry something with the tip. The knife will fill an EDC role perfectly and can be used as an excellent self defence knife in a pinch.

Get one. You will not regret it.

The more I use my Military, the more I appreciate its ergonomical design, excellent slicing abilities, simple and solid liner lock and its weight. Although my folder of choice is Alias 1, Alias is about 25% more expensive and I am not sure if Alias 1 that much better except for its smaller size. I have yet to test the Paramilitary but so far Military is on the very top of my favorite folder list.

Can't resist to say this: SAL, PLEASE PRODUCE A MILITARY WITH STEEL LINERS AND FRAME LOCK!!!!

The current Military has skeletonized steel liners and Sal said that the framelocked Ti Millie would be engineered to have the same lock strength as the Walker linerlock Millie.

Best production folder ever made, IMPHO.
My favourite folder overall, and I've had costume knives which I thought could replace it...

I don't think there is a knife that really compares to the Millie... It is in a league all it's own. I do like the Sebenza and SnG more, but as you said... they cost 3X more. I currently do not have a Millie in possession, but a Para. The Para is nice and small, but I certainly miss the Millie! I will definitely snag a Millie before I head back to TX for the Winter... no BS 3.5" blade limit there!

To the OP, I would say you HAVE to pick up a Millie to see for yourself. The only problem is... it is, IMO, the finest example of what Spyderco CAN do, and it won't be your last Spydie (this has been said to death, but in this case, I believe it is unavoidable!).

Nothing. Esp in the price range.

I have an AFCK, Military, and large sebbie.

The Millie feels much better in hand than the AFCK(way to much handle drop for me), and the blade design.. FFG with no swedge is much better IMO.

I like the handle on my sebbie's more than the Millie, or any other knife made.
But I love the light weight and size of the millie, and now carry it much more than my large sebbie(I carry my small sebbie more than any though). My BM AFCK hasn't been carried in years.

This is good. You guys are helping me justify spending the money.

How many versions of the Millie exist? I know there is an S90V as well as the current S30V. I think Sal mentioned the Ti version...andbody know when this is to be released? Will it be a sprint run or full production?

there are 5 i think:
S30v G-10
S90v Carbon fiber
S60v G-10 (i think)
BG-42 Carbon fiber
D2 Carbon fiber (sprint run)

I like and respect a lot of knives but the Military is in it's own class IMHO. One of the 10 best large production folders in history as far as I'm concerned. It's not perfect but I've never called any knife perfect. I believe perfection is almost impossible to achieve in a folder. Constraints of one form or another will always force a compromise somewhere. And besides, perfection is subjective . . .

The Military is as good as it gets in the large folding knife category for EDC in my book.
