What is the best deal you have gotten on a knife lately?

Well, it wasn't that recently, but this is one of the nicest deals I ever got. I was working as a technician in the old Synchrotron Lab building at Caltech. I was talking old knives with another young tech and he said that he'd inherited a dagger from his dad that he'd like me to take a look at. It turned out that it was one of the earlier models of the Sykes-Fairbairn commando dagger with cast beads-and-ridges handle.

I told him what a great find it was and that he had a nice collector's piece. He later decided that he wanted me to have it and insisted on selling it to me for only $20.00 even though I told him it was worth much more. I threw in a decent Solingen immitation commando dagger from my collection, but it was still a steal on my part.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but - I just got a Busse Basic 9 for $100! This thing is one HUGE chunk of steel for a hundred bucks!

greco had his knives at 50 percent off at the show.
so i bought two for about 85 bucks

Was walking around at the end of the show this weekend saying goodbyes, when someone who will remain nameless shoved one in my pocket. Cool fixed blade and very nice sheath.

Thanks You know who. It's a keeper for two reasons, one it is a very well done factory knife two it was a gift from a friend.

I sure would have liked to have been at that show! I've got my eye on several Grecos and would have bought all the one's I've been wanting at 50% off!

My turn again.

Had a Boker Brend cocobolo that I didn't care for. Nice blade and weak frame. Traded it last weekend for a Ruana like new except for sheath stain straight across.

p.s. It paid for part of the burn on the Yancy and Harsey Applegate/Fairbairn's that ***censored*** sold me for a grand..."Dick!"

Thanks for the offer but I'm saving it for my son when he gets old enough to carry a pocket knife. That is a different looking knife. It gets a lot of comments when I show it to someone.

Melvin,
The last time I talked to NCBlades, he had a Q with a solid blade for sale. Might want to check with him

3 Gurkna Dragon knives for $27 dollars apiece (1 for myself and 2 for gifts, yeah, right)! I know the DET-CMDR in Kathmandu, Nepal so he sent them to me for cost. Very happy indeed. -Rick

A month ago I made a good bargain with a member of a german language knive forum. I bought a Pocket Hobbit (black T®, plain, NIB), a Utility Neck Knife (NIB), a Hobbit Warrior (1095 High Carbon, black T®, prototype, new), a Hobbits Fang Neck Knife (carried but not used) and a Hobbit Warrior SteelTrainer at the total price of 510,- DM (converted around 225 $)!
The deal was an adventure into the unknown, because I never handled or saw in real a R.E.K.A.T. knife. My purchase decision based only on information from the internet. Imagine my excitement till the postal package arrived!
My expectations became not disappointed, the knives were in promised quality and especially the Warrior models conformed my ideas regarding an effective fighting knife.

Fällkniven had a 50% off sale, and I bought the Microtech Vector at "close to US" prices - about $190. I'm very pleased...
