What is the big deal about Chris Reeve?

The big deal about Chris Reeve Knives is that many people have no idea what they are talking about when they try to pass judgement on them. They are some of the most well made knives on the planet.
Absolutely

I've never held or used a Sebenza so I can't comment but they look nice. I just don't like thumb studs. I like the insingo blade shape but don't care for the look of the others.

Honestly, I think CRK knives are cool, weird, overpriced and worth it all at the same time. The thing that does it is their tolerances. To me, they're overpriced because I will literally not see the real difference those tolerances make even with a lifetime of use. I own more than one knife that, with regular maintenance, will not significantly degrade throughout my life. What those incredible tolerances give you, however, are potential generations of use and quality. That's really pretty darn cool, and I think is a big part of the reason it's worth it to many.

You band wagon followers can jump on any time you like. Just remember you paid premium for boring blah design.

In short the tolerances are immaculate. Materials are good.
At the end of the day; it's still a pocket knife.

If you have a keen eye for perfection and have the money to get one. Then get one.
If it worth it to you keep it; possible buy more.
If it's not worth it to you; then sell it. CRK hold much of their value.

I bought a Sebenza back in 2006, large regular with double thumb lugs. It's been my regular carry for closing in on a decade. I've owned knives from nearly every major manufacturer and a few customs, as well. I've sold almost all of them, probably 100 knives or more. I have three folding knives left, and one of them is that old Sebenza. It's seen work almost daily. It's still dead centered. It's still smooth as glass. It still has not a hint of blade play, even if I completely remove the pivot screw. It still breaks down and goes back together with a level of fit that has to be experienced to understand. It's one of the finest things I've ever owned.

Times have changed, and I don't make the money that I used to. It's probably silly that I don't sell it, honestly, but I never will.

If you have an eye for quality and a love for knives, then this knife should impress. The quality is not debatable. There is no hype.

please take your 110 and a hammer and beat it through a bolt and post pics I really really want to see it shit I might spend 40 on one and do it my self it would be worth the laugh. What size bolt I want to do it tell me what size bolt and which buck I will do it and you and I both know how this ends for the buck. Please set the parameters of the test and I will put your buck to it.

I've got an old 2 dot that I will do it with. And truthfully bucks new steel probably won't. But I know for a fact that the old stuff will. When I get time and I'm not working or with my kids I will.

CRK isn't "big deal." CRK means "BEST DEAL."
To some, it's opinion.
To me...it's just FACT. Buy one and you will know.

Man alive.....another CRK, Hinderer, Emerson, TSF, Fill In The Blank Knife, is a way over priced pos that my $40 Fill In The Blank Knife will run circles around thread.

Who cares.....like the guy on TV says, it's your money, use it when you need it.

Why on Earth would I care what knife someone else buys and enjoys with their money. If you enjoy your $400, or your $40 knife, more power to you and I'm pleased you're happy with your purchase.

4 pages of this crap.......and by the way, my Dodge pickup is better than your Ford!

I won't comment on all Chris Reeve knives, as I have only carried the Sebenza 21. I carried the small first, and then the large. The large gets a lot more of my pocket time. While I'm sure the Sebenza is not for everyone, it hits the spot for me. I love the minimalist design that some call blah blah. And the way they wear is excellent. I like the look of a used Sebenza more than a new one. After being used, they almost look "steam punk" to me. But if I want it cleaned up, I can send it in for a spa treatment. And start wearing it in again. The quality can just be felt. If you don't want plain, options are available that look pretty fancy IMO.

I don't really know if this will help, but here is my opinion. I have a couple of Chris Reeve knives and I also have other customs and mid techs. Each offers something different. Are CRK knives my favorite.....no, I love other knives more just simply because it is my taste.....BUT here is why I keep my CRK. Because I NEVER have to mess with them. The pivots never move, the handle screws always stay tight, basically it is the same knife every time I pick it up. The tolerances the knife are built with are so tight that the knife fits together perfect. I have a lot of knives that were cheaper....or way more expensive and I have to mess with them all the time. These knives are just tuned right. I know when I order a CRK it will be ready to use. And it won't fall apart. When people say you have to hold them it is true. If you listen to them close it is the neatest sound.....go hold one, open and close it, you will see how it is made. Again they are not my favorite knives by style.....but hands sown they are made very well one of the best.

Ha ha.....yeah I have spyderco knives as well....I guess you could take out the them stud.....then you will have your hole!

Hey look up how to zip tie the spidy hole on a spyderco guys. It works awesome!

How is this relevant?

Anyways, I'm pretty sure this thread was just a joke in the first place, and you all took it a little too seriously. Notice the ":p" at the end of the OP?

Or the op truly DID just want to start a crapstorm and duck out...... Regardless, this thread is pretty sad. I will say that I was actually kinda surprised at how some of the CRK guys responded to criticism. You'd think the knives would speak for themselves and wouldn't need their fans to enter into "you suck!" "Nu-uh!" playground arguments with their opponents, but apparently that's not the case.

I personally think sebenzas are really cool, and seem to be very well made knives. I will be getting one shortly, and I expect to be completely satisfied with my purchase:thumbup:

No big deal, just knives.

Some guys like them, some guys have not figured out why those guys like them, some guys waste a lot of energy on the topic....

I know right lol. I got his feathers ruffled. But seriously I don't like crk at all. I like my bucks, my dad and grandpa used them with no issues for years and years. The old traditional is made so well. Some of this new stuff is crap.
