What is the big deal about Chris Reeve?

I noticed that the 110 get's loose when you use it hard sometimes but the blade play is easily fixable even out in the bush where you don't have any tools. All you would've had to do is hit the pivot area of the brass bolster with the butt of a large branch and it stops the blade play.

It came loose fast, side to side wooble and lock-rock doing no more than snap cutting small green thorn branches. Nothing hard use about that, I've used many folders doing the same thing and they never loosened up at all. You can't tell me a tiny little pin with no threads, is a strong design compared to these big threaded pivots on more modern folders. Add in the fact that the 110 weighs about half a pound, has no clip and loosens up so easy and it's just one I'll never buy again.

It might be a little outdated but it sure did pave the way for all locking folders today.

It was about the only choice in a locking folder for years, so yes I'll give it that. If they changed the pivot with a larger threaded one, it would improve the 110 by 110% IMO. As it is I have compared folders costing about the same, doing the exact same tasks and they held up much better. Of course they used a much bigger threaded pivot pin and that made all the difference, in keeping the blade tight.

That's very hard to believe. I have several that I have used and used hard and they have no wobble or play in any direction. Y'all have just turned this into a bash session. But whatever y'all continue, this is my last post.

I don't care what anyone says, there are much much better knives out there than Chris Reeves flashy crap. I have custom bucks that were around the200 range that will out perform anything he will ever put out.

Just wanted to put this under your LAST post.

Nobody is bashing the Buck it does have a tiny pivot pin, without threads. How can that stand up to these huge threaded ones in modern locking folders? I bought one tried it and it became loose right away. I've no reason to lie about it. Plus, reading about how you could hammer a older Buck 110's blade through a bolt without damage. I've heard a few old timers say they tried just that, because of Buck's trademark and they all said it ruined their blade.

Funny, flashy is the opposite of how I see CRK. The reason a lot of us are not jumping on CRK is its lack of style. LOL

"It might be a little outdated but it sure did pave the way for all locking folders today".

I think you could say that very statement about the Sebenza. Or a BMW 3-Series. Times change, and so does technology. There are beaucoup folders on the market that surpass the Sebenza for 1/2 the cost. It still boils down to what you prefer to own & use.

And you didn't have anything.to do with bashing? LMAO!

Some have mentioned that the Sebenza takes whatever is thrown at it and stands up to punishment but even though I don't own a Sebenza, I don't think folders in general are meant to withstand heavy use and punishment. To me this is what a fixed blade is for. I cut things with my folders and don't expect anything more from them, and all of them from my $40 one to the $130 have performed this task the same. That being the final result of cutting through whatever material. Hacking branches etc., and some heavier tasks give me a fixed blade.

The comparison between a 110 and a 21 are not even close, The Buck serves it's purpose and is interesting. If you have actually held or owned a CRK and didn't care for it, I value your opinion, but being completely objective I seriously doubt there is another "much better" production folder than a 21 at 1/2 the cost. I really like my 21 for what it is, and that's it.

What's the big deal with Chris Reeve? A better question would be, what's the big deal with people who have to try to bash others and try to force their opinions down peoples' throats? Let's see, so, according to some:

- CRK Sebenzas are overpriced "pretty boy knives"
- CRK knives have no design
- the Buck 110 is a better folder (This is categorically and objectively flat out false, sorry.)
- People who buy CRK knives clearly don't have priorities like having a family to feed

Like, are you people kidding me with this bull#$%^? That's a serious question, by the way. I mean, we get it, some of you don't like Chris Reeve knives. And that's fine. But whatever happened to just being like "Well, I guess I could see how some folks like 'em, they're just not for me." and letting it go? Oh, right, no, we can't have that. Some folks like Leatherman have to mention the styling of the knife multiple times because he's not pleased with the lack of agreement he's getting. Hint: most of us don't agree with you, sorry bruh.

All that said, the OP was cracking me up when he started bitching about this turning into a bash fest so he was taking his ball and going home, after he wasn't getting pages of "Yeah Buckman, you're totally right!!".

LOL Some people, man.

I believe the OP got the intended reaction out of this thread. Just like the 587 other identical threads that start and end the same way. Just like the next 587 will.

I carried a Buck 110 exclusively for over 20 years. It's the only knife that I've actually used enough to totally wear out a blade. It was a great knife and now I have a small collection of them. That said, imho comparing the 110 to a Sebenza is ridiculous.
The Sebenza is machined to microscopic tolerances, finished to perfection and made from the best of materials. Let's get real here,it's the price that makes some folks blink. This level of quality isn't nessesary for a good edc knife and not everyone will appreciate it.

I'll pass......dropping 400 bones on a knife is a little too much when you have priorities and a family to feed, I have to invest my money into my equipment and tools that cost hundreds of dollars because I'm self employed....only if I won the lottery I would consider paying that much for a knife.

I like the CRK also for the way it fits in my pocket unlike a lot of tank like folders it does not get in the way of my hand when using the pocket I have a ZT that if you want to use the pocket you have to first remove the knife or lose skin on your hand to get in the pocket. The 110 just looks wrong in a pocket like you have a problem controlling your excitement and to be honest the leather pouch on the belt thing well it just does not go with my pretty boy hair cut and is uncomfortable when wearing a tool pouch. You can be blue collar feed your family pay your bills and still look nice and have nice things. I do and I drive a truck carry my tools in a bucket and do demolition when needed. Blue collar does not mean your ignorant smelly dress like shit and have crap stuff and generally hate everything that looks nice or cost money. Thats an attitude problem born of spite. The I'm a working man thing holds no water with me I know plenty of well off folks who work there ass of for what they have and hire me and my guys. so please shut the hell up with the I'M a working man and only carry working man knife and drink cheep beer and drive a rust chevy blaa blaa blaa thats crap that a choice or the results of bad ones.

It's way too much for me to put down on a knife but I appreciate the fine detail and work that goes into making this knife, and the enjoyment it brings to people who can spend the money on it. Compared to family, having food on the table, bills, saving for an emergency, and saving for the future, knives take a back step in the spending category for me. Maybe one day I'll be able to pick one up.

You can buy one of the tiny little Fiat 550's:eek:, You can get a Chevy, Ford Dodge or Toyota etc..
You can buy a Caddy, Lincoln or Lexas etc…

I'm sure glad we have all of these choices here in the USA!
Last, I love The Buck 110 it was my first knife I purchased as a Teenager. Technology continues to improve! Find what you like and buy what you like!

I've never heard of anyone carrying a 110 in pocket. The 110 is made to be carried in a belt sheath.

As I said the belt sheath does not go with my pretty boy hair cut and I find it uncomfortable under my tool pouch reading the whole post is a good idea before making an attempt at a shot.
