What is the cheapest you are comfortable with?

I have a Mora that I paid 8 for, including shipping, and it is a great knife. I use it fishing quite a bit. I have a few customs, two Sebenzas, and one Strider.

The cheapest I have I bought retail is an opinel #10

I paid $2.50 at a camping shop , the owner had them "displayed" in an icecream container , I bought a heap of them , and gave them to my wife , my brothers , my friends ...

I chose the #10 because it was the biggest I could hide comfortably in my hand ( with the blade closed )

i used to carry a $3 "mastercraft" retractable boxcutter from canadian tire. i needed the full size handle because i always ended up having to really reef on stuff. and the disposible blades let be more comfy with abusing it. i would go for a fixed blade cutter next time though(and get a sheath made to fit it). the wobbly retractable blade is really annoying. i might look into one of those "bird and trout" type deals too.

SAK manager is with me every day and I keep a $10 Mora in my truck as well. I do compliment them with a nice assortment of more expensive knives. Custom Dozier FB's and Spydies are always along for the ride. I have a Gerber or Kershaw in the glove box in case I feel the need to really abuse a folder. If I break one of those I'm only out $20.

I always carry my spyderco jester on my keys (frn pe) but for my main folder i wont carry anything less than50 dollars. I dont like crap from Chine whether they are quality or not because I dont like to support labor in which people get like 2 cents an hour. Its not fair to take jobs from people in canada and USA and its not fair to abuse the people in China. As of late oi have been edcing my 710. I usually use either my mini skirmish, my caly 3 or my SS delica ce (of course my 710 will be in with that rotation=).

I'm not really concerned with prices, persay, just with the quality...but the lowest priced knife that impressed me with its quality was the 30 dollar Kershaw storm...

Most of my EDCs are a little over a hundred dollars though...just enough to get G10.

I am carrying a ka bar dozier that i like pretty well. also a small kershaw, this week.

I've used a Kabar Dozier Designed Clip point folder ($20) for a year, worked very well.

Recently started using a $10 Gerber linerlock -works pretty well too. Quality, lockup and blade centering is perfect (better than my Buck Mayo TNT -which is off center when closed -and I paid over $130 for it).

Opinel #6 cost me about $8. I had a #8 as well, took it apart to use the blade to make a fixed blade, then the blade vanished. :(

My least expensive EDC at the moment is a Endura 4 Wave. I carry a cheap SAK on occasion.

I've gotta chime in again to say, I've been using the heck out of the Superknife I bought for $6.00. Works great for a lot of the tasks I do that would destroy an honest pocket knife, but a mat knife is sort of clumsy for--like cutting carpeting against a subfloor to move a piece out of the way.

The A.G. Russell Woodswalker gets a lot of everyday use in the kitchen, but I don't carry it often.

I'm still on the look out for a folding knife or two I can carry, but not feel bad about abusing.

It all depends on how you define "comfortable"
My little Kershaw silver spur cost about $10 bucks and is very good on my keyring to trim my fruit and pull a splinter out.
Would I want it to wrestle Bigfoot? not really.
It is all relative and I think some members may carry an "all rounder" just in case .

I don't concern myself with low prices.I won't support China.I carry a SAK or a slipjoint along with another folder which is usually my Manix or Ritter Mini Grip in M2.It is not a money thing,I just don't get to excited by many of the lower end models.Could someone explain the attraction of Opinels.I just don't get it.
