What is the cheapest you are comfortable with?

I don't concern myself with low prices.I won't support China.I carry a SAK or a slipjoint along with another folder which is usually my Manix or Ritter Mini Grip in M2.It is not a money thing,I just don't get to excited by many of the lower end models.Could someone explain the attraction of Opinels.I just don't get it.

Absolute laser cutting ability, ease of sharpening. I put a thin convex edge on my #6, and it will outcut anything I own- except another convexed folder of similar stock thickness.

The best USA made knives I have found for the money are the Buck 110/112 ($30), and also the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian ($55). The only knives that i will carry that are not made in the USA are Victorinox swiss army knives.

for me , its a few things , the blade takes an unbeliveable edge that even my wife has no trouble keeping shaing sharp , they way out perform other knives Ive had in general work and in game dressing . Big point scorers with me .

then there is the look of a knife that is so simply made with a real wood handle and has a twist lock instead of the more usual locks

if you want an upmarket Opinel , you can find them with walnut and ivory handles on ebay even .

My cheapest (decent quality EDC) was my Vic Spartan. I still use that knife, just not my EDC right now.

I have been carrying the Kershaw JunkYard Dog II for EDC for over two weeks. It cost $41.55 and I just love this knife. I have finally gotten over the fact that I thought the blade to kind of ugly at first, I like it just fine now. It is also made in the USA.

i got 3 s@w knifes i use at work!i abuse the crap out of them and when they dull i sharpen them on a grinding wheel!i have no pitty in them for being cheap and so far they serve there purpose well.....from me using a benchmade at work.junk knifes have a purpose to me like good knifes i use for weekend carry.:)

Currently I only EDC a little SAK classic, due to the nature of the work and location I am in. Previously I would EDC my Leatherman wave when I was blue collar. At other times, it's been a Cold Steel SRK, or a Swamp Rat Battle Rat. When I am hiking or hunting, it can be quite a combination of knives/tools.

price isnt the most important thing to me. As long as the knife will hold up, is comfortable and will get the job done i'll carry it. Currently i carry a sog flash II, But thats just because my girlfriend stole my Native, and the new one hasnt come in the mail yet.
