What is the most expensive knife that you actually use.

My EDC is an $850, 2" stellite bladed, mastodon handled pocket knife with damasteel bolsters and titanium liners. The thumb stud is set with a small garnet. Best edge holding pocket knife I have ever owned.

The most expencive knife that i own and use,is the Fallkniven NL1 Tor bowie. It costed 474$ when i baught it. For me,that price tag is the pain limit for my budget, and if i where lucky enough to have a custom made bowie in the 1000$ range,i would find it hard to use such a fine knife.
The EDC knife that i saw in a previous post, that George Tichborne use costs 850$! One must be slightly paranoid to carry such knife,in fright to lose it!

Manowar

I use all of my knives, no matter what the price. My most expensive knife is my Anso Hybrid, with snakewood handle and damasteel blade. The price was $430.00 with shipping. The Hybrid cuts like there's no tomorrow.

I occasionally carry either of a Custom DDR small Apogee, illusion with Darrel's own "unfolded" Damascus blade. #2 of 5 small Apogees he made in 1999/2000 as BFC knives. All of them were custom and all are marked inside the scale "Millennium #X" or a custom Onion Whisper. Either of which will go well over the $1000/1200 mark.

They get used not abused. I've got cheaper knives for that.

You can put me down also for a Phonghorn, it should be a crime to own a Fowler and not use it. Unfortunately I can't say I carry it every day. For EDC's my most expensive knives would be my Carson M4 Stellite & Stag, and my Washburn Damascus & Stag. I'm not going to talk price, that would be gauche. ;)

My work EDC is an A.T. Barr gents folder with black lip pearl scales. In jeans, I've been rotating lately between a Mayo TNT and a Scott Cook Lochsa.

I've also got a few knives that I purchased with every intent to carry, but haven't (yet). It's not about the price; it's because I don't want to put that first scratch in them.

I really don't have many expensive knives, mostly BM,Case,Spyderco,SAK's and Hammer Brand folders from the '50's.I have had many EKI knives which the most expensive was a Commander that I paid retail ($219.99) plus 7% sales tax for.tom.

The most expensive knife that I use on a daily basis would be my small classic wood inlay sebenza. That knife is about perfect. I think it retailed for $380. But who pays retail. :)

I carry either a Mayo TNT, Elishewitz Cpm 440v folder, on small Sebenza. They all keep a great edge. Also Rinaldi Talonite TTKK, great in the kitchen.

Small sebbie for now. But soon I shall have a Battle Mistress! Muahaha!

I have three knives on me at most times. One is always one of my two Hartsfield kozuka neck knives ($500 ea), another, in a nice leather pocket case, is either a Ruple Wharncliff Whittler (600), or a pretty little pearl handle lockback folder from Bailey Bradshaw (paid 300; I think they're about 500 now), and the final is a benchmade AFCK. The AFCK is the one that gets passed out if someone needs to borrow a knife, and I don't worry about it. The Edgepro gets it back into shape quickly if someone uses it in a less than appropriate manner.

I cut with my Hartsfield Aikuchi (1500) and my Katana (8000; he gets 10k for the same blade now. If you've ever used his knives or swords, you understand).

I use my Bill Burke Pronghorn (1000). I cut with my Ricardo Vilar Gaucho Bowie (600), and my Red St. Cyr Fighter (500).

I Don't use my Al Barton Bowie. It's amazingly beautiful, and irreplaceble.

I don't buy with investment in mind. If I had a Loveless or Moran, I might not use it, but I might, because I could. I get great pleasure the knives that I use, and Mr. Al Barton is probably rolling in his grave because his just sits in my display case while the others come out to play. I don't abuse the knives, but I don't baby them.

Life is too short to use something less than brilliant with which to cut.

I loaned my old Terzuola ATCF to Dexter for that $400 custom user article recently in Blade. Prior to that, I EDC'd a couple of Custom BM bali's. Now I have several Bob Lum folders that I rotate. But the most expensive is my Lum Grandmaster Darn Dao fixed blade.

:) I have a $315 2003 Bob Dozier coral micarta medium (3-inch blade) folding hunter that I use. I use all of my knives. After all, they are tools and they are meant to be used--and they are fun to use. Of course, if a knife came to me with sentimental value (say from someone dear), I could see me not using it--just holding it and opening and closing it, while cherishing it.

I'm on the low end here, so I make up for by carrying a few, Bud Nealy Blued O-1 Aikuchi(1 of his early pieces from the 80's), my first custom for a while.

A Pat Crawford One Hand Knife, and another newer Nealy First Run Stinger with Black Ironwood scales with mosaic pins.

Price each, $250 to $350 each usually I'm packin' anywhere between $500 to $1000 worth of knives on any given day.

My gosh you guys put your money where your mouth is a lot more than I do! Most expensive knife I own and actually use is my Spyderco Dodo, and thought I was going to have a stroke when I loaned it to my roomate and he put a little ding in the blade. I'm getting more used to the fact that, "It's a knife and was made to be used" sort of philosophy. But, personally, if it's more than $100, with the exception of a really nice, high-preformance fixed blade like a Busse or something else I can't afford, I won't use it. I'm too affraid I'd loose it. No offence to you guys who carry $300 knives. More power to you. This is just my personal opinion.

That is some knife. I like everything about it, including that lanyard. It must give you great pleasure when using it. I see you are from Upstate. I'm on Long Island now, but I fondly remember many autumns in Syracuse. Upstate--what a place for fishing and relaxing.

I knew there was one more, Dozier Arkansas Toothpick $195.

Here's some pics Crawford top Nealy Aikuchi bottom.
