What is the point to make a blackout? Yes, invisibility. So...

Here is a picture of mine:

Sweet, I've always been a sucker for a recurve blade:D

Damn, those guys really knew whats the deal! They should have created some knife company like Hinderer did. Would be seeing some badass framelocks as xm, but blackouts same time. Eh.
Bolsters need better darker coatings, though.

Bolsters have faded with age
It's a 70+ year old knife:eek:
Time takes its toll:oops:

Blackout doesn't make a blade invisible; just ugly - really dislike black coated blades :-(

You realize that in broad daylight, a solid black blade will stand out more, right?

Do you do the majority of your cutting in the pitch black or during the day?

Red would be better . Looks more innocent by day but near black after dark . Hides the blood evidence of your dark deeds .

The point isnt invisible blade. It looks beautiful. Ppeople do not fear black blades. So you can use it being close.

Ok - so assuming this is true - the logo on a pocket clip or using silver screws all of a sudden makes it scary, and you have to move a little further away from them to use it?

As a conscript, I can safely say that none of our bayonets or machetes have black blades. This whole 'black blades do not reflect sunlight' really just to make 'em blades look tacticool.

Even the standard issue multitool is not black. So if you are unfortunate enough to give your position away by the reflection of a blade or a pocket clip, you're are already doing something seriously stupid.

Some blackout blades are truly beautiful IMO..i am fortunate enough to have most of these myself :) I prefer black as its a clean look .. and in my opinion (both as a collector and former police officer) black blades seem less "threatening" big shiny satin finish reflecting light will get you more unwanted attention IMO ..and DLC coatings have come a long way.. i managed to finally scratch one cutting 15 bags of soil open (small rocks and gravel) but for EDC use (paper cardboard zip ties etc) you most likely will never scratch it
