what is the sharpest FACTORY edge you've seen?

I ordered some fairly cheap folders from A.G. Russell:
Ultimate Pen Knife titanium (1.5" blade)
2.5" locking titanium
3" locking titanium

These 3 all came with VG-10 blades and are very thin and light, the smallest one isn't much bigger or heavier than my front door key (which is a fairly small key). All 3 will very easily shave hair off my arm.

Does anyone else find that an interest in knives and sharpening is leading to baldness of the left forearm?

No but my right forearm is quite bare. :p

I got the AG Russell Funny Folder, I forgot about that one, that thing was SHARP!

Spyderco Salt I

It was so sharp that I could split hairs length wise. I sold it like an idiot.

Once bought Ahti Puukko, it was completely insane.
Also Mora 2000, SOG pentagon,...

My Spyderco Stretch ZDP-189 is the sharpest yet. My Emerson CQC-13 was right behind it with the venerable Buck 110 and Spyderco Military right there.

Spyderco Tmag is WAY up there.....hair splitting sharp out of the box. My first small sebbie was also rediculously sharp but its tough to compare as there were several years between the two. Though I dont know if you'd consider the sebbie "factory" I dont necessarily consider it a true "custom" either.

Almost every knife I bought new could have used at least just a little touch up out of the box. Sharpest out of the box that I can remember was a Victorinox Gardener. No touch up needed.

Now if you count how many knives that needed to be reprofiled out of the box...

I too have to sharpen almost every knife I get new. My MiniGrip and Zing were just sad. My LH Millie and Kershaw RAM were both reasonably sharp.

However, my Caly 3 CF/ZDP was so sharp out of the box that I will be lucky to get it that sharp again.

Probably my Case Swayback in CV. Case is putting out some seriously sharp edges these days.

Kershaw and Microtech, especially the '90s Vero Beach MTs, are usually right up there.

With the exception of one Delica 4 I've been very pleased with the edges on my Spydercos. The Military, Caly 3, and Sage 2 in particular were very sharp.

Picked up a Kershaw Barrage at Walmart that had a great edge on it and the 14c28n steel has kept a good edge even after some hard use. The only thing I've done to it is a few swips on the Sharpmaker white stones for touch up.

Just today I received a new Buck 303 Cadet. All three blades were razor sharp. Way to go Buck. Got a Queen stockman a week or so ago with beautiful Bird's eye maple handles and D2 steel that had terrible edges on the blades. Having to buy diamond rods for my sharpmaker to re-profile the edges because the D2 is too hard for anything I have now.

Dozier. Actually the sharpest I've had was on my Leatherman knife, which was as close to "can't touch it" as a knife could get. I say "was" because the edge was so thin it was shot after the first use. If you're going to keep a tally, I would suggest sharpest + kept an edge for a reasonable amount of time. Otherwise, an Exacto knife wins hands down.
