What is the STRONGEST/TOUGHEST Folder?

Dark Ops covert folders are by far the stongest production folding knife I have seen as far as lock strength and quality high end steel. They price anywhere from 195-250. Good luck

Dork Ops are the best but they are far too dangerous... they are a liability due to their resistance to Al-Qaeda fluids and their affinity for Comm-Bloc armor.

If you really need to pry Jone Brothers Entry tool would be a nice knife. Not sure on the price though.

the conditions you describe and the kind of folder you described made me think of the Spyderco Manix. But if I'm in a forest alone and I'm the least bit worried about life and death, I think I would carry a fixed blade.. or two. Plus the folder.

and throw in a hawk or ax for good measure.

but I also wouldnt go it alone, I'd want a good dog too... :)

where can i get striders for the best deal???

Ebay, if anywhere. Perhaps here on a used one. Otherwise, for a new one you pay the same MSRP at every vendor.

cheers

I would carry something like a smatchet and a battle ax if I were you. They don't fold, but hey the woods is a dangerous place!

Yes, I have heard of Airkat Tripwires!! Dwaire Carrillo is a GREAT guy! Those knives are also above your mentioned budget.

My buck strider spearpoint is the toughest folder I have. I'ts a monster and get's sharp as hell. Cost is reasonable too. :D

cheers,
Dave

HAHAHAHA!
That is funny.

If you like the look of Dork Ops, maybe you should check out Extrema Ratio- The company Dork Ops Stole all their designs from. ;)

While it is AUS8A, not S30V, I would definitely consider the SOG Spec Elite -- I just purchased one and think it is one of the better knife values I've seen in a while at around $100. The mechanism is extremely fluid with no play at all. It's about as close to an automatic as you can get without actually being auto.

I love many of my knive but I have to say that I think the Manix is surely one of the stongest, it not the strongest. I also think it would be a good choice. A the design of Spyderco serrations are about the best on the market.

Here is a picture of my Manix with a custom sheath I had made. You can get these on E-bay but I had it made with the knife tilted forward more, and with more knife exposed. Both were for a faster, easier draw. It's a big knife to carry in one's pocket and I love the sheath for this particular knife.

If you're curious, that's a Ritter BM Griptilian in my pocket, with a SAK in the left pocket.

Regards and Good Luck

Currently im looking at the al mar sere 2000, but im looking in the locking system issure. have they fixed this?

The Buck Strider, Spyderco Manix, Ontario Retribution, Spyderco Chinook, ZT 200, Al Mar Sere 2000 will all fit the bill without breaking the bank.

I have used a Sere 2K for years and it has been improved since I bought mine. I have not had any liner lock problems.

The Retribution has a liner lock that is as thick as some frame locks!

i wonder if i could get a pocket clip on the retribution, what do you guys think? Also, how does the N690Co steel of it compare to 154cm and s30v?

also, I called the al mar rep and they said there has never been any improvements on the sere 2000
