What is the ugliest knife you know of?

I rather like those last van hoys.....it's a little tribal, in my opinion.

The dodo is way up there. Which kind of makes me sad, since I may be ordering one Monday.

I think the pre 4th gen Delica variants are all pretty hideous.

The SPOT is fairly hideous.

The Yojimbo is a weird kind of hideous.

The Pika is pretty ugly.

Anything majorly krised.

That new spyderco pikal WITH the weird wave thing is hideous. Without it, I sort of like it...I only got to see it for like 15 seconds before they ran off.

The worst sin a knife can visually commit is looking cheap. If you don't look cheap, then someone's weird tastes will like you. After the not looking cheap phase, it's all about how MANY people like it.

What do you think of this one?:D

I found this bad boy scanning the web a little. I have many more I can post to keep this going!

Can you guys do better?

Remember this is a contest!

I'll second deathshead's nomination. :barf: :D

Sorry guys, almost anything Spyderco. I know they are great knives, but I just can't handle the look. Kind of why I don't own any Glocks.

Oh God and I live pretty close to Golden. :o

deathshead,

Congratulations. Nice catch. It is simply hideous but my vote goes to an other Frost Cutley model, the Sting Razor I. It can be seen here.

I second Pilot1's opinion, spyderco just dosen't catch my attention, BM all the way.

Any karambit, any fantasy knife, any of the cheap "commemorative" knives. I recently saw one advertised in WWII magazine to "salute" the veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf War I. It was the same knife for each war with a butt-ugly eagle head bolster, they just changed the grip inset for each war.

Finally, finally, finally... someone admits that Spyderco is FN ugly!

The blades look like bird or reptile heads. There is just no masculine appeal to most of them. Come to think of it, they look like they were either designed by girls, or for girls... all of that swoopiness. Men tend to go for harder, more angular lines... I think.

It's hard to put my finger on but I particulary hate the blade shapes. The Dodo, Chinook and Civilian are the worst, add in the Harpy and the Cricket. The Yojimbo is ugly but most box cutters are ugly and I don't care who designed it, that is a box cutter, not a fighting knife.

It also freaks me out that they designed the Civilian for Police, who would not really consider themselves civilians per se. Maybe they called it the Civilian because it was meant to be used by police AGAINST civilians! Why the hell didn't they call it the LEO or something.

Spydercos are so ugly that I am starting to like them in a sick kind of way. I kinda like the Kiwi (jigged bone) and the Stretch. Shhh! Don't tell anyone.

I don't think the spyderco stuff is really ugly. I think they look more like tools that you don't know exactly quite what the best use for them is right away....until you use them yourself and find out. Once you picture them in use they make more sense and they are easier to forgive visually...for me at least.

Most of the CRKT line is uglier than the spyderco. Totally tacky looking. Anything "rainbow", too much mother-of-pearl, "space age", damascus overload or damascus mixed with too much other stuff along with trying too hard to be scary looking...that would be my ugly requirements.

The perfect example to me is the William Henry Meridian. It's a $1000 knife and any feature it has by itself would be absolutely beautiful. Put them all together and the 2 different colored and styled damascus mixed with mother-of-pearl and opals....it looks like absolute crap to me. Way too much of a good thing as they say. It's like the costume jewlery of knives.

I think the voodoo is a great looking knife.

I think this thread is really good at establishing the fact that there's no such thing as an ugly knife. I disagree with about half the threads in a big way.

Is there a knife that we can all UNIVERSALLY agree in its uglytude?

Of course there isn't. At least not one from a real, respected brand.

It doesnt have two different styles of Damascus.
The bolsters look to be Mokume.
Not exactly an ugly knife, but Not my style either.

Any POS fantasy novelty knife or Frost cutlery/Maxam/United cutlery knife should be excluded from this thread, because there are just too many pieces of crap, and none of them are what I would consider "Knives"
Maybe we should focus on actual, quality knives?

It happens to the best of us. I rejected Spyderco for years. Then about six months ago I ordered an Endura. I thought that I must be missing something... and I was. Since then I've seen Spyderco in a whole new light and tend to look at more Spydercos than any other company.

That said, there are some freakishly ugly Spydercos that scare me.

I think those two Frost knives that have been posted probably would win in my book. Not only are they ugly, but they look amazingly useless.

Equally bad is the spelling in the ad:
"...gold and matte finish meatl hanlde liner-lock tactical ..."
