Tell us about your sharpening skills and equipment, once you venture into different steels you need a reliable method to put an edge back on them when you are out there crafting your place in the wilderness.

Again, I'm going to politely ask you to stop. You're adding nothing to the discussion and are instead trying to inflame other users.

I'm going to assume you're the new user above, 'Surfinpete,' who just made an account to comment on my post here. You're completely and unequivocally in violation of site rule #3

I'm asking you to stop your behavior, it is very unwelcome.
.....love or hate him Danke42 has been around long enough to know this and the pittfalls of such an endeavour so probably not him.

Yes, this thread spans ten pages in length and I've read everything. I feel like my knowledge of the subject matter is much better than it was yesterday (and I STILL hardly know anything 😨) Plenty left to learn still.

I've got a S35VN steel blade coming in the mail sometime this week, I think that should serve as a good starting point for how to appreciate what has been described as a 'premium' steel. Maybe not a 'super' steel, but I think I should be satisfied with the item regardless.

That's a step in the right direction. Do you further agree that the best steel for a knife depends on what sort of knife, context of use, and skill of the user?
