Custom or production.. don't want to limit it to any specific type of folder.. just curious what you would buy if had a $800-$1500 budget and you only wanted to buy one knife. Please post a picture and maker/manufacturer.
Quite a few folders from Rockstead that catch my eye in that price range
Besides that, any of the custom/ Damascus Chris Reeves, especially the rare ones like the River of Fire Damascus mentioned above
Otherwise, I don't know... I haven't bought a folder much more than 500 and even that is rare
Most of the stuff I have close to 1000 is either custom or semi-production fixed blade
I like Sergey Rogovet's work.
A little over the top on some models but his attention to detail and finish are outstanding on all.
I just picked this one up recently.
Copper pivot ring and backspacer are what attracted me to this one.
Also the lock bar insert that not many customs feature.
As I mentioned, new knife, I need better pictures.
This Sawby Self-lock toothpick is impressing the hell out of me...they seem to be in that range that I've seen. Absolutely blown away with this thing...jaw droppingly perfect
Why? To gamble and loose all your money or spend half on alcohol? Shucks I'd rather have a Shirogorov or a Brown Servo or Norseman knife. Or if autos are your thing I'd go with a damascus Microtech OTF or as the post above said, a Chris Reeve Damascus Large.
For me, I'd go with a;
#1 One-off/custom Wayfarer
#2 Rockstead
#3 Anything from the Knifemakers Guild of S. Africa that tickles my fancy; Thornburn, Burger, Muller, etc...
