Update:

Machining has started on the parts and there are still a few left if anyone is interested.

Thanks
Michael

I got a date of july 27th for the parts to be finnished. Unfortunatly that is the weekend I will be in Florida at the Guild show. I may get some of the parts early if they are done but I wont know until later.

I am currently writing the instulation manual, with the help of Mile Fitzgerald, aqnd it will be available on line in a few weeks.

Also, What do you makers think about the MAP Arm being sand blasted?
What about hot blued?

Thanks
Michael

Which ever is better for humid environments for me, although I'll probably have to lightly oil it anyway like I do the rest of my equipment. Par for the course in my shop especially this year. We've had record amounts of rain fall so far this summer.

Hot Blued, anodized, Powder coated. I vote yes for some type of finish:thumbup:

Hows the installation manual coming?

Oh and I'd vote for blued as a finish :D

everyone who ordered a MAP Arm will be getting an email in the next day or so with the Disclamer as well as the amount due and the shipping cost. I am having trouble getting the installation instructions on my web site so
that will be coming later.

Thanks everyone

Michael

Michael,

what do you think about using following setup as a poor men surface grinder?
First position MAP Arm table vertically parallel to the belt surface.
Then attach x-y cross slide to the table and then magnetic chuck to the slide. Attach blade to magnetic chuck and move arm so blade touches contact wheel.

I can see some potential problems:
1. weight of cross slide and magnetic chuck.
2. Height of cross slide and magnetic chuck might require longer arm.
3. Parallelism of magnetic table to the contact wheel. If it's feasible to easily make them absolutely parallel.

Please let us know what do you think about it.

Thanks,
Alex

i was playing around with an idea like that a few months ago and I think it is definatly possible. That would be an ideal application for an additional table assembly that was customized to accept the magnetic chuck. It would need a height adjustment as well as a way to get it parallel to the grinding wheel. It is possible.

If you want to draw up some ideas ain Solid works and email me maybe we can come up with something.

I just saw this thread come alive again this morning and I've tried wading through the post trail and still have not found out if you have started making this available.

Have you and, if so, what are you asking?

Many thanks!
Dana
