How do you leave 3V out of a "favourite blade steel" poll?!?!

I will vote for my second favourite then, S35Vn, but it's tied with CPM154....

Nevermind.

!

Where is CPM 3V? Or are one of the others to much like it?

Anyways, I've had great experience with Fällknivens VG-10.

TOO MANY I HAVEN'T TRIED! That and some I have tried that didn't make the list.

Had to go with M390 from the choices..

This list makes me want more knives just to try more steels! Damn you lol

CruWear and PD-1 are in the same family, but I wouldn't call them the same...

5160 spring steel, no doubt... Higher chromium properties makes this carbon steel more corrosion resistant,,,, also is capable of very beautiful mirror polish and it's one of toughest steels out there up to date, suits large blades (my favourite) , all this - while not costing whole fortune....unlike many other steels of this superclass...

You left out way to many steels and gave similar ones different categories.

Rosta-frei, 3cr, surgical, mystery steel are all great. [emoji106]

yep! surgical steel is good enough for me. if its good enough for a doctor to use in surgery I'm sure its good enough for normal people too.

Yes, an outstanding steel, and by far my favourite carbon... 440C and Aus-6-8 are my favourite stainless steels, although 440C really depends heavily on the maker or source. All 3 are very tough even at 0.020" and below 30 inclusive.

If my limited experience with S30V is any guide, some steels that are supposedly "ahead" are not even suitable for any knife use at all imho...: S30V by RJ Martin (a top notch maker) ruined a knife that would have otherwise been a favourite of mine: It did micro-folds almost instantly even at quite open edge angles (34 inclusive) on a very thick 0.040" base.

Elmax. It just does pretty much everything well-- takes a fantastic edge, holds it well, tougher than most, resists rust, easy to sharpen. May not be he absolute cream of the crop in any one metric, but also has no major weaknesses.
