What is your favorite country that you have no affilation with? So don't pick a country that is your nationality (if you are American, don't pick US) and don't pick a country of your ethical origin (if you are Irish American, don't pick Ireland). Please don't turn this into a "my least favorite country in the world topic" by posting your most hated country. Also, lets put the past behind us and focus on the present. So don't vote for Egypt because you like the pyramids, because ancient Egypt is long gone. Post reasons why you like the country (culture, politics, people, etc).

I pick Japan even though I have never been there because
*sushi: yum yum
*Nintendo: my favorite gaming company
*bowing: both cute and respectful IMO
*Godzilla: Raaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww!!!!!!
*Animators: they animated my favorite cartoon, Batman The Animated Series
*Language: sounds so happy and childlike (no offense)
*Pen and mechinical pencils: I would like them better if I don't lose them so often

I don't really see a point in this... but I'll play along. My family immigrated from Germany in the mid-1800s, and I identify strongly with my German heritage... I've got a German flag and an Imperial German flag from the WW1 era on my walls. But since I can't pick Germany...

I like the French. Good food, decent wine (I'm sure it's great wine to wine people... but I'm a beer man), good music.

Other than that, I'd like to go to Ireland. Great music and good beer... can't go wrong there.

I will say Czechoslavokia?sp?... their cities like Prague, look beautiful and eastern european women are hottttt!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no longer a nation called Czechoslovakia. It split up, into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

I'm affiliated with too many countries and ethnic groups, one way or another. The only one I guess I could pick is Lower Slobbovia. I only know what I read about it in Li'l Abner comics. It doesn't sound like a fun place to visit, but at least it's different, and, maybe, interesting.

My uncle Groucho ran Freedonia for a while, so I've always felt a special kinship with that fine country.
In reality, I'd say Italy. Politics aside, I like the attitude of the rural folks there- government is a faraway gadfly best ignored, food and family are more important. But I guess you could say that about rural folks in most places.

I'd have to go with the country that gave us Monty Python, Red Dwarf, the Beatles, and Dr. Who.

Having had the opportunity to many countries in Europe and Asia, I'd have to pick Holland over 'em all for many reasons, beautiful country, great food and beer, nice people, and oh yea, all the other stuff too.

I really enjoy England, and make it there 2-3 times a year. I have friends in Derbyshire. Great people, great food, gotta love a country where 50% of workers can't make it through the day without two pints. :D
Cheers!

Been to Wales a bunch of times and drove around the countryside, takes too long getting used to driving on the otherside of the road.

Italy & Ireland. That's where my family comes from. :D

I have no affiliation with France but I do like the country regardless of its politics.

Well, I am part Irish, Scottish, Austrian, Polish, Czechoslavakian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Russian, Latvian, Estonian, Cossack, Blackfoot, Crow and Cherokee (probably some Norse thrown in for good measure just because they pillaged most of eastern Europe), so I have lots of ties to those countries, and I like them enough to visit them, including Montana (Blackfoot and Crow) and the Cherokee bands in North Carolina and Oklahoma.

So, I'm guessing that the only places I would like to visit that I do not have ties to would be Canada, Australia and the Meditarranean, Italy. Since the geography is pretty much the same as the USA IMO, I would have to say Canada would be my favorite.

I do have geneological ties to it, but my overall favorite is probably Scotland.

We DON'T drive on the other side of the road, you do! (And the French, a lot of the time, anyway...)

Andy.

Japan and Australia for me.

Japan because of:
anime, manga, Godzilla and Nintendo. Oh, and the samurai. Can't forget the samurai.

Australia because there's something about a country where just about every creature that walks is trying to sting, bite, or eat you.

Since I am japanese-american, my ex-wife taiwanese, my current wife indonesian I'll exclude all of those and pick Singapore. Very strict, very clean, very safe but still wild if you know the city.

Thailand simply for the food, of coures the same could be said for just about every other culture on earth but right now its thai that makes me salivate.
