What is your favorite country that you have no affilation with?

One of two places I guess.
New Zealand. Very pretty from what I have seen and I am fascinated by the Maori people.
England. Midieval history also fasciantes me and England is full of that. The people I think are charming (the Brits I have met are some of the nicest folks I have ever met). Communication wouldnt be a problem. and since it's connected to Scotland I could 'kill' two birds with one stone :) .

Thailand -- great people, beautiful scenery, inexpensive, good food, etc.

I forgot about New Zealand. That place is one of the reasons I love watching the LOTR trilogy. :)

China.
And specificly, Hong Kong.

The closest that I've been is the Republic of Korea (South korea).
But China holds some kind of fascination for me (and I don't really care for Asian women).

My wife chooses New Zealand, but I think she just wants a cool tattoo.

Allen.

Italy, the food, the countryside, the history, the cities, the people. Ciao!

I kind of like Bermuda. Some might point out that it's a part of the UK and I wouldn't argue, but that might change and it has its own identity anyway.

ISRAEL

For sheer guts, ancient history and beautiful women too.
You posted what I was going to say.

Yes ISRAEL. Why? Because it's history is facinating reading. The people and their country are survivors when most people gave up on them and gave them no hope, time and time again. A people who were systematically persecuted, enslaved, and murdered for over 2000 years in an attempt at complete genocide.

I admire those survivors and their guts to hang in there when all odds were (and still are) against them. Who could have imagined over the past 20 centuries that Israel would again be a power to contend with?

Besides, my Father was a carpenter there, the greatest Jew who ever lived and worked in Israel and who has saved me from eternal damnation.

Sweden...Those shapely, blonde-haired, blue-eyed women...Yum, yum!.:D.

I can't say America (which would be my obvious first choice), Italy or Portugal.

So the next most obvious choice for me is Israel. Obvious because it's the place that I dream of going to the most (even before Italy and Portugal). I've thought about it quite a bit. I'm always amazed to watch news reporters standing near the various locations where Jesus once stood because they seem so completely unmoved. I'd have to sit there for quite some time before I recovered. Would they try to move me after a day or two? ;) Also, I deeply respect the Israelis for their bravery in the face of evil. I also appreciate them because they continue to offer an open society, to the best of their ability, despite grave threats to their safety. Israel is full of wonderful teachers too. One of these days I'm just gonna buy a ticket and go loitering on the steps of the Jews' temple.

I'm sooooooo very jealous. :insert pouty smiley here: (See Jennifer sitting there one day.)

South Africa, or at least Cape Town. Spent 3 months there in 1998.

Some of the people are nasty, some are crazy. The rest are a lot of fun. The women are hot, a lot of people (from all different groups) like to talk to foreigners, the climate is great, there's wonderful jazz, and Xhosa people will sing on trains.

Now, this is a cool question. I love geography and culture. For my picks, i'd have to start with: Israel. Number 1. My mom's friend lived there for 10 years (husband was transferred for work) and the descriptions she gave of the country and culture make me long to go to Israel. The openness, the people, the different motivations and raison de etre of Israelis... in short, the LIFE that is there makes my heart yearn.

After Israel would be Russia. I have always been fascinated by that coutry and its long, varied culture.
