What is your favorite inexpensive folder?

My Gerber LST (the model that's just over 3.5" closed) cost me $12 on a popular online auction site. And that included shipping. Great knife.

My first ever knife was a little green SAK with nothing but a blade and a bottle opener. That little thing never ever disappointed me. Other knives have needed adjustment, repairs, tinkering, but that thing was like an old Chevette: small, slow, not very powerful, but they keep going forever.

......at about the $25 mark I think all of the Byrd line are a great buy.

.....for $50 give or take I like the Spyderco FRN value line.......Native, Delica, and Endura; also the Centofante mentioned above is a superior slicer that would make a good EDC if one didn't need something super-heavy-duty. If your tasks called for "beef", the discontinued D'Allara can still be found on occasion.

.......at or about the $100 mark the FFG, Foliage Green G-10 Endura and Delica, the Sage, and the Caly3 all excel.

I know....I know....all Spyderco. We like what we like; I'm just impressd with not only their products but with those who run/work for the company. My bias for sure.

- regards

Mine would be a Victorinox Classic. They list for between $15 -20 but I think I paid $9.95 for the ones I bought some years back.

I ALWAYS have one in my watch pocket and find them to be very useful.

Personally, I've got a #12 Opinel I love to death...gotta love that carbon steel too. Purchased for $16... I modded mine and added a Benchmade polished split-arrow pocket clip to mine.

I must say, for the money the Sodbuster is one of the best knives in its price range. I love the fullsize and the Jr.

In spite of my previous post, I still find myself using the Vic Classic now and then.

Most inexpensive yet favorite folder?
My Kabar Dozier Folding Hunter. It's my garage and yard knife and I got it for only ~$14. (!)
I also have a Case Sodbuster Jr. in both CV and stainless - great knives!

For a fixed blade, I've had fun thrashing on this GI Tanto - batonning wood:

Dude, you gotta post a pic of that mod.

Byrd Cara Cara. They were recently upgraded to thinner handles with skeletonized liners, which makes them even better. I think they weigh a little over 4 ounces now and ride better in the pocket. In all ways except edge retention I prefer this knife to most other companies 100$ folders. It's more comfortable, easier to open, has a very robust lock, excellent G10 scales, very useful blade shape and the stock grind cuts better than the flat saber grind of the Endura / Delica line.

Boker M type. I haven't found a better knife yet for the size and the price. keepem sharp

I just ordered an M Type. Can't wait for it to get here. I've heard they
are a little hard to open. What has been your experience?

To everyone that mentioned the Tenacious, I liked it so much I
bought two. Best under $35 dollar knife on the market IMHO..

Spyderco Endura (one of the originals with a plastic pocket clip) for under $60
Benchmade AFCK (early model with liner lock & single position clip) over $60
