What is your favorite military issued knife

For me, the M-L-K-808, AKA the demo knife.

I saw to many being used for everything under the sun. Not to mention their trade value downtown Saigon if you liberated a few extra from the supply room.

Pic just for you...

The US doesn’t have a monopoly on military knives. This “machete” was issued to the Spanish Special Forces. Beginning with their mountain troops during the post war period. It was one of the last military items made at Fab Nacional de Toledo, a national arsenal which had made many outstanding knives, swords, bayonet and artillery pieces over its 200 year history. Unfortunately, when the factory closed during the 1970s the records were lost. This is an uncommon item. Collectors have placed its use anywhere from WWII to the 1950s-70s. It would eventually be replaced by the Aitor’s Oso Blanco knife. Perhaps the production records will eventually surface. But, the initial reports were that they were unceremonially thrown out when the facility closed.

Here is the British RAF Mod Survival (originally Wilkinson Model D Combat knife)

I have never been able to warm up to this one. Some of these variations look useful, but the type that I usually encounter in the wild has the narrow edge grind (as can be seen on the second knife from the top) that leave me wondering why they bothered to pretend to put an edge on it. At 1.5 lbs. there are far better choices out there.

Here is a cool knife that saw service during the First World War. This is an Austrian Pioneer sword that would have been issued to machine gun and artillery troops and was probably one of the last knives produced by the Austria-Hungary. Oddly, I have seen several examples offered for sale over the years as "Confederate Bowie Knives".
