What is your favorite military issued knife

Brazilian Artillery Short Sword

Earlier versions of the Austrian sidearm, like the 1853 model shown below, do appear to have seen service during the US Civil War.

There were two versions of this sword. They outwardly look very much alike but the latter one is much lighter, has a thinner blade width and is made from slightly thinner stock.

Military knives have always been an interesting subject. Not only have many innovative and useful knives been issued, but these are often rich in historical lore.

I am going to start this by listing our old forum favorite. But there are plenty of other great knives that have been issued by arm forces all over the world. Lets see some of those knives.

It's the smatchet of course! What better knife to start us off.

Is this supposed to be a thread of blades people own, or is this just a theft thread where people steal anything they can find on the internet and post it?

Clarification please.

It is about military knives that you happen to like. Whether you own the knife or it's a grail knife that you would some day like to own, doesn't matter. I'm a lousy photographer and we are limited in the number of photos that we can host here, so link away. Just be careful to link the images rather than active sales sites. Also keep in mind that sites like the big auction site, remove the images after a short period, so its best to avoid those.

I don't mean to take this thread off of its current historical tangent, but I favor the more modern issued knives. Four of my favorites have been issued to U.S. SEAL teams.

The Mission MPK 12-Ti.

The Cold Steel LTC Kukri.

The Winkler Belt Knife.

The Microtech NSWG Scarab.

Two favorites have been issued to U.S. Marine Force Recon units.

The Strider DB-L. (Notwithstanding the Strider farce, I always thought this was a cool little fixed blade.)

The Cold Steel Recon Scout.

And three of my favorites have been issued to U.S. Coast Guard SAR and TACLET units.

The Emerson SARK.

The Spyderco Autonomy.

The Spyderco Shaman.

Honorable mentions also go to these great Benchmades, which I believe are approved for general issue across the services.

The Nimravus.

The Fixed Adamas.

The Auto Stryker.

Happy Independence Day!

I wouldn't post any images that weren't my own, so I have less need to worry about where they came from, but I appreciate the clarification.

You might notice the TL-29 Electrician's knife you posted is one I already posted. That particular one in my shot was carried in Vietnam in 1967-68. The TL-29 is listed as an Electricians knife, but is also the knife used in the EOD Crimper set for those guys old enough to remember the leather Crimper set which contained both the knife and crimper.

The 1848 Swedish Engineer‘s short sword/cutlass.

This always reminds me of the Al Mar Quest/Path Finder series of knives. It is a very nice machete design.

I really like that 1848 design - it looks very useful, didn't know about this

That’s the point of this thread. There are a lot of very good knives that we seldom mention on this site. I hope this thread gives us an opportunity to share some of that.

No love for the M3 trench knife?

Or the Pattern 61 Soldier issued to the Swiss from 1962 through 2008?
