Me too... Funny though that I recently had a thought “I’m bored, wish someone would do something stupid on BF” :p

It seems like it is always the threads about personal preference that bring out the anger. Topics where there is no right or wrong answer. (Tip up or tip down, what is your favourite tip style on a knife.)

Anyway no hard feelings Gideons. I understand that it is hard to convey feeling through typed text. I wasn’t trying to say you were wrong or offend you in any way.

You did nothing wrong. Some people just like to cry and whine if anyone disagrees with them. It's sad but funny :D

I didn’t see my option but that’s understandable. My favorite method is the one handed Okapi “whip”. A brand new Okapi whips open with ease but the Cold Steel ringlocks need some breaking in before they can get there.

I’m sure it was probably just a misunderstanding.

We should all try to give eachother the benefit of the doubt that we are not trying to offend one another. It happens.

We should have a middle finger icon so that way unless that icon appears you can assume that no harm was meant.

Hahaha a pic is worth 1000 words.

Can you describe the "whip?" Sounds cool.

I think he is talking about inertial opening, aka gravity shake.

Yeah, you get a firm fingertip grip around the ring and handle and fling it open. If you have one that’s really worn in you can snap it shut using the same motion in reverse. It’s very satisfying, but I’m easily pleased.

That is definitely different, and cool.

How about this bad boy? With a little practice you can flick it out and open kind of like a balisong. However you can’t keep it going in continuous motions like one.

Very interesting. I’ve never seen anything like that before....

It is called Le Trifolder by Fred Perrin.

The type of knife is called a trifolder or a “jacob’s ladder” knife. Cold steel actually used to make a couple knives like this they called the “triple action”. I had their tanto version. The big disadvantage to the design is that if you don’t hold the handle shut pressure on the edge (which is facing left in the above pics) causes the handle to open up)

Before thumb studs were really a thing, I used to value the ability to open a folder one handed with my thumb. Thumb studs are cool, but in some models they can occasionally get in the way of sharpening (certain angles). Flipper gets my vote.
