It is called Le Trifolder by Fred Perrin.

The type of knife is called a trifolder or a “jacob’s ladder” knife. Cold steel actually used to make a couple knives like this they called the “triple action”. I had their tanto version. The big disadvantage to the design is that if you don’t hold the handle shut pressure on the edge (which is facing left in the above pics) causes the handle to open up)

I like it. And that Cold Steel used to have one makes me wish I had started looking at knives much earlier. Well, I’m off to go look at as many of these as I can find.

I'll also say that I do like thumb studs. They'd be my second choice behind the Spydie hole.

I tried an auto a couple weeks ago and I like it. I'll prob pick up another one.

I hate flippers. That flipper trigger jutting out the back just ruins the smooth lines of a nice knife imo.

But I'm interested in trying a front flipper.

im late to the game, but i recently got my first flipper.
also got an assisted flipper for my daughter.

I'm likeing the flippers

Without taking laws into consideration I prefer autos because they require the least manipulation but in reality land I'll take a thumb stud.

I also like thumb studs, but I place the tip of my thumb under the stud then lift the blade open. Some folks say that’s the wrong way to use a thumb stud though. Anyway, that’s how I use thumb studs and I have actually avoided buying knives that I really wanted because the thumb studs seemed to be too close to the handle which made the blade awkward to open.

I only have nail nicks and a thumb stud.
On the traditionals I have where possible,I'll pinch them open, rather than use the nail nick.

I voted hole plus wave. I wouldn’t want a wave-only folder, because there will always be times not to wave it open.

I'm not a flick-it guy. I prefer a tightish pivot with smooth action.

My Vallotton Sub-Hilt and Military S90V/CF/Ti are perfect examples of this.
