What is your job

Built the finest nuclear submarines in the world for 24 years (1973 - 1997), 18 years welding nuclear pipe and 6 years NDE technician, mag particle, liquid penetrant, visual inspection, certified weld inspector and mostly x-raying welds.

The last 11 years I’ve been mostly x-raying welded pieces in the real world, and doing those other inspections when their isn't too much radiography. And of course busting Wa..Wa..Wally's balls :eek:
 
Retired USN in 1996 after 18 yrs 20 days. Spent my time in the electronics field and shore based ASW. Then worked for the RR as a signal maintainer, went back to school and earned an AS degree in machine tool technology. Making knives since high school but earnestly since 1992. Right now a full time maker.
 
I'm a computer geek for a defense contractor. Been wiggling my fingers at the glowing box since I was 4....Making knives is a way for me to do something tangible rather than virtual...

Was a Linen and Uniform supply Service Mgr for 10 years and have sold janitorial supplies for the last 7(mostly Toilet paper). Plan to retire the end of the year.
No way am I going to turn knife making into a job.

Physical Therapist. Working in adult neuro outpatient rehab at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX....and some home health on the side. Teaching people to move, do, and walk.

Software engineer. Currently a tech lead on a project to build the first new airline reservation system since around 1970.
 
Pizza delivery for 6.5 years work 31 hours a week doing that gives lots of time to make knives.
 
I make titanium rings for a living. Various previous jobs included flipping hamburgers, making handrails, working at nuclear plants, designing paper towel dispensers, making bicycle parts, and programming an 8 axis laser for a bicycle manufacturer.
 
Medically retired from Army in 1968.
About 20 years as psychologist directing inpatient psychiatric programs.
Some consulting work for hospitlas and law firms.
Took early retirement as of March, 2008.
Shopping, cooking, dishwashing, laundry, etc.
Started burning propane and beating steel about a year ago.

Landscape irrigation. I mainly install sprinkler systems in lawns. Mostly on big commercial new construction projects. Do some residential. Plant trees, shrubs, sod and even build some ponds and waterfalls. In the Texas Panhandle it never rains so we have to make our own.
 
For 28 years I have made my living as a sculptor working in ancient ivory and whale bone. I also restore and sell mammoth tusks and other fossils. If you have been using mammoth ivory for a long time chances are some of it is material I bought from a gold mine or remote Eskimo village.
With seven daughters my most important jobs are husband ,father and grandfather. I am 54 years old and my 10th grandson will be born this summer.
Although I have no extra money I feel like the richest man alive!

My last job was sawyer at a local sawmill,but with my back sugery doc says i cant return back to work.
 
Toolmaker/Machinist for most of my adult life, now making blades full time :thumbup: :thumbup:

"Better living through chemistry" has been the guiding motto of my life since adolescence. On a number of levels. :D

I knew there was a reason why I felt connected to you ;) :D
