What is your knife budget?

Like Buzzbait, I'm fairly comfortable with what I have. Sure, there are others that I want. Sooner or later I'll pick them up. Right now I'm "investing" in some of my other interests. As far as a budget, if I want it bad enough I'll buy it no matter what the price is.

knife budget??? Nahhh.... I just try to supress the urge to buy knives until I can't hold it back anymore, then I go and buy myself a nice new knife or two (or three) from a good manufacturer and hopefully that calms me down enough to get by for a couple of months without buying anything else.

However BF has made this harder and harder to do..........

Ya, I got it bad, but it beats drinking and peeing the money away at bars and I'm home at night where I belong. My wife is very understanding about the OCD I suffer from.

Damn right! A night out drinking + food + cab is around $80, do that 6 times per month and you get a Sebbie :D

$50 to $100 a months not too bad, ask my wife lol!

i just bought 2 emerson customs in the last 6 months, my wife wishes it was $100 a month lol.

My budget consists of whatever disposable income I have that I can safely sneak by my wife :~) In all seriousness, the idea of a budget is a good one, just one that I've never been very good at applying. Even more seriously, who the h*ll has disposable income? I've always hated that term, but for lack of a better one, I'll have to stick with disposable, but note that *none* of my income is disposable :~)

I have truly mastered the aspect of purchasing knives for my collection. It's the 'selling' part of collecting with which I have the most trouble.

I agree your budget is very reasonable. You can perpetuate the fun by trading and re-aquiring. My individual knife budgets are reasonable. My problem is that the budget just doesn't seem to balance when I add them all together! Enjoy the addiction.

I probably am right in there with the majority, spending around 100-150 USD per month. I overspent big this month, so I had better take it easy for a while .....(probably not)

I usally average $100-$200 per month on what I call "Guy Stuff". One month it may be knives, next month it may be guns, the next watches, and the next  I'm not telling.
I need to learn about this trading thing, but it's hard for me to part with my toys.

knife budget=$0 :(
That's what happens when you start school and don't have a job...
Unless there's something I really must have, I'm going to try and keep the spending to a minimum.

I suppose I could go without eating for a few months... :D

Mine has slowed down a lot, first I went NUTS!!Had to have, screw the cost,CREDIT CARD!yhippee! This year so far I have spent $140 on knives, but I really needed a new AFCK and sheath knife.

Well, I am about to start school, too. I have the luck and honor, however, of attending West Point - they give me a budget for knives, sidearms, uniforms, a computer, etc. I will probably spend some money for a good fixed blade, probably a BM Nimravus. Gong, you could apply to West Point next year!

Hey guys, I have a great idea!!...Since I AM too damn poor to buy a Benchmade 805S (and I REALLY, REALLY NEED one), and I can't seem to trade anyone for one (I've posted a very good trade offer here at BladeForums), maybe you can all get together and buy me one as a gift?...(My 50th birthday is comming up in July, but I WILL accept an early birthday gift.).:D.

My address to send this BM 805S to is:

Dann Fassnacht
c/o General Delivery

.:D.:D.

I probably spend between $200 and $400 a year on knives, mostly old pocketknives, SAKs, and now Bark Rivers (those take up big chunks of my budget). I can spend it in small chunks, but if I save for something, then my truck breaks, an appliance goes bad, or someone needs to go to the ER, and those things always seem to take precidence over knives
Just don't have lots of fun cash, big family to take care of, kids going to college, bills to pay, the usual real-life crap. I'm sure someday I'll have more free knife money, but not anytime soon .

I do have a nice collection of mostly $25 and under knives! :D

I was going to open a new thread, but I figured I would bring this zombie thread back:

My knife budget last year was only 30/month, so I would get a few cheapy knives here and there, or I would save up for 3 months and get something decent. My situation has improved, so my knife budget is now ~$150 a month (customs really ruined me). I periodically sell, so it's easier to justify. What do "y'all" spend/budget for each month?

My budget is $0, or maybe by now it is a negative.

I've bought a lot of knives by selling items from one of my other hobbies, but more recentlyl I've bought some new knives on the credit card. Other than trading other objects for knives, in the past year I've averaged about $50/month.

The first year that I really got into knives I spent over 15 grand. I've had to slow way down since then. I was shocked when I added it all up.

I'm 24 and have a few other hobbies os I don't buy knives that are over $30-40. I have 5 right now and it's already starting to be too many...

It depends on how financially responsible I am. I invest in numerous things. Gold / silver, ammunition, guns, watches, mostly things that I can get 95% back if I decide it isn't what I want. Absolute tops would be $500 a month. That's with no going out or exotic entertainment for me and the wife. It's all about enjoying life.

No set budget here. If I want a knife, and there is money in the account, I buy the knife. If there is not enough money in the account, I don't buy the knife.
