Thank you, here is a bowie version.

Here are my EDC champs!

You may notice a general trend with these. They all:

-are user friendly
-have great grinds for great cutting performance
-offer great ergonomics
-take up little or no space in pocket
-don't eat said pockets

I didn't include any multi tools because that's a whole other ball game. You may also notice that I like a good, reliable lock, and when I carry a slipjoint (which is quite often) it's in conjunction with at least one of these. I feel naked without a good locking folder. The blades that go in the pocket also aren't too heavy, and with the exception of the Buck 110, the folders are all easy to open one handed.

I actually like fixed blades better than folders, but don't want to belt carry them because city life (a folder belt carried is a little less recognizable and panic-inducing among the sheeple). I'm currently working on getting creative with the way I carry them (in a manner that doesn't appear weapon-like to a LEO) and intend to start carrying some sub 7" OAL fixed blades in the near future. Got a real beauty coming in that I expect to carry very often.

Though I also keep a few EDC pouches and bags of varying sizes, depending on what I'm doing. This is the contents of the small pouch, though there's usually a Manbug in there.

Two, Endura wave for larger cutting tasks (which I have no idea what that would be) or self defense (not that I plan on using a knife for self defense), opening beers !. And Dragonfly Salt Se small size yet full hand grip, great blade shape, i have not found a cutting task that I needed a bigger blade for. The SE goes through anything and for its size is superior to plain edge.

Beautiful watch! Panerai makes some classy timepieces.

For me personally, several of those I own.

For the masses, an Emerson micro-Commander. The perfect "pocket knife."

Chaparral is pocket perfection for me:

Though I like to carry something bigger in addition when it permits:

M390 Military in the back pocket. Gives tons of blade in a light/compact carry and leaves my front pockets open for phone/keys, etc.

I posted in this thread 4 years ago, and now it pops up again!

In the past 4 years I've bought a Delica, carried it some, and my daughter ended up with it. The Delica is a good knife, and very popular. Perfect is in the eye of the beholder and I'm sure the Delica is perfect for a lot of people. I prefer a one-handed lock and not a lockback, and I prefer blades closer to 3.5". One of my favorites these days is the Spyderco Paramilitary 2.

No matter how big the collection gets, this old Blur is what rides in my pocket 95% of the time. Perfect size, excellent handle:blade ratio, fairly thin, light weight, slides in and out of the pocket nicely, good grip thanks to the skateboard tape (I bought a new Elmax Blur and was very disappointed that the traction inserts are rubber now!), combo edge, no flipper or safety, hard firing assisted open, and doubles as a bottle opener! I'd say it's also cheap enough not to cry if I lost it, but I would be very sad because I can't replace this exact model!

I have lately been in the search for my perfect EDC knife, but right now, I think I can safely say it is the Spyderco Delica 4. I cannot find anything wrong with it, and I find it my most used, and go-to EDC knife. Despite having had a sebenza, and many more expensive knives, I keep on coming back to the Delica.

So what's your perfect/favorite/go-to EDC?

Pics are encouraged! :)

Since this thread was originally posted in 2012, I wonder if the "perfect" carry knife has changed for others who posted back then.

I'm sure my perfect EDC knife choice has changed several times over the years. Right now, I'm inclined to prefer modern one-hand opening knives with blades around 3" that are narrow in profile and made with a stainless steel that's not difficult to sharpen. The knives I'm carrying most these days are a Benchmade Sequel and Spyderco LW Native and Delica. But mostly I carry the Sequel.

I extend my 3" preference to around 3.5" occasionally and I frequently carry a Benchmade Axis Stryker or Spyderco Gayle Bradley I. The Bradley's M4 is sorta over the easy-to-sharpen line but it's manageable.
