What is YOUR Survival knife?

Oops, my last post was supposed to have this pic.

What is the make of this interesting razor-like folding shovel? :)

Ha! After reading what you said I went out to the car and grabbed it, I thought there was some numbers or something on it but I didn't see any - but it does have dried dirt kind of all around it. It's just the typical folding army shovel. If I remember right, there is something engraved on it to lead me to believe it was made in the early 80's....so it's not an old one.

That piece has really come in handy over the years. I engraved my initials on it and sharpened the one side that has the serrations and put an edge on the other side. I definitely would want it with me in a bad spot. Kind of curious as to the makeup of it myself.

If i had to pick just one(not easy) I would take my BK-4. it has a small piggyback in the sheath

I'd take my gerber prodigy. I know some of you may be saying "pffft, gerber", but ive found it to be quite a strong knife (1/4 inch thick, full tang). i dont know what steel it uses but i do know know that its a type of stainless and it seems to hold an edge reasonably well. I've used it for a lot of batoning and chopping on the hardwoods we have around here, some of which have been seasoned, and its held up pretty good. some of the blade coating had come off but theres no proper damage to the blade so i trust it. And besides the fact, i wouldnt have any choice as its the only fixed blade i have at the moment :/ . Sorry for that wall of text by the way.

Of all my knives, my answer is still the ESEE 5. Yes it is big, but you said only one knife if I had to leave my house. If that were the case, I would have to get through the city first to get where I was going. So, my knife has to function as more than a cutting tool, maybe a pry bar that so many look down on. Maybe it has to be a hammer. Possibly an axe. Whatever the case, the 5 can handle it. Positive.

Either of these two would work well, easy to carry and comfortable to use:

The big 15" blade chitlangi kukri, its already partnered with a CS Bird and Trout (the karda it came with was a joke). So I have a large heavy blade and a small light blade in one convenient package (along with about 20' of paracord and a firesteel).

another BK2 vote. from chopping/batoning to dressing game, it can do it all.

Depends on where I was, where I was going, etc, etc.

Temperate Forest: ESEE 4
Jungle: A sharp machete
Desert: Mora Robust
Tundra: Gransfors Bruks Hunters Axe
Aquatic Area: Spyderco Aqua Salt
Urban: ESEE HEST/Izula (I'm assuming these are good, don't have either)

The Esee Izula 2 is MY KNIFE! Now i dont know if its the smart choice for the first thing i grab because of the size, but i have found my self using it almost exclusively for fire craft, carving, food prep, and general outdoor use. I am more comfortable with my izzy 2 than any other knife in my collection.

Are we talkin clothes on your back plus 1 knife here? cause if Im grabbin supplies for an un-assesed future Im sure grabbin more than any one thing. Frankly I think a machete would be my pick. Any old kind will do, as long as I can sharpen it.

Can I have my Glock and a couple spare mags please?:D:D
