Since I always carry a Rat-1 folder and a Leatherman Surge, the one knife I would grab would by my BK-9. If that wasn't available then it would my BK-2. If that wasn't available, then it would be my Esee 4.

If we are talking strictly knives, of what I currently own, my CS Trailmaster would be the knife I grab. However if we are talking blades in general, my Martindale Bolo machete would be my first choice.

2. Large fixed blade or axe.

I keep buying "newer", "better" fixed blades but my 25 year old KA-BAR USMC always finds it's way back on my gear.

If only one, my Becker BK7. As another member posted, more likely I'd also have my pack which contains a Leatherman ST300 and a Kershaw Crown, as well as a sharpener.

If I had to grab one or pack it in my bugout bag, it would be the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie. If I had to have one for the wilderness, it would be my Ontario Marine Raider. The Raider would be too heavy for my bugout bag, though. Right now, I have the Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie and the Cold Steel Recon Tanto (Carbon V). I've been thinking about substituting my Rajah II for the Recon Tanto.

I love how the question was "which knife" (singular) and you guys are posting several. If you can't make the simple decision as to which knife to take, you probably wouldn't survive in that situation. Carrying duplicates of things instead of carrying more food, ammo, or shelter is questionable judgment.

Ah well, it is a fantasy situation anyhow, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

...and there it is...no way most anyone here would think about ONE knife; they would HAVE to take ALL the knives they could possibly carry LOL...couldn't have it any other way...and that's fact not fantasy LOLOLOL...
