I was just curious on what blades you guys use for bushcraft and what kind of grind do you guys prefer? It can be a folder if you want.
My preference for bushcraft is
NWA knife/ Flat V-Although it is little long.
Mora/Scandi
A Finnish puukko/Scandi
SAK
Gerber gator.

i do occasionally use a folder for bushcraft:

but i would usually rather one of these:

from left to right: modded Old Hickory skinner ( now a nessmuk), koyote bushcrafter, a knife my grandpa made, helle Brakar, and a knife I won in a give-away made from a file.

and i sometimes use the mora craftsman in this pic:

I prefer scandi knives: 4" blade, scandi grind, hidden tang. As of right now I'm using a re-handled Mora.

It will be a Koster Bushcraft when it gets here tomorrow. As of today it's a Buck 110.

Psy-Ops...how do you like that D2?

So far so great! Not a problem I have cut a bunch of branches still sharp. I am not touching the blade till it gets dull to see how long it lasts and how hard it will be to get the edge back.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. I think I prefer convexed with Scandi falling a close second

Usually one of these guys:

But soon I'll have BRKT Kephart and an Aurora, and I expect that the Aurora will rarely leave my hand.

I use a D2 Rat 3 with a reprofiled edge. Works great but I'm interested in getting some Helle and Mora laminated carbon steel blades, adding a handle and giving them a whirl.

I sort of HAVE to use a lot of different knives. But More and more if I'm going out to explore the watershed and not working on specific comparisons or experiments, I carry a leuku pattern knife with a convex grind or one of the "modern seax" interpretations- also convex.

I do often carry a scandi around as well.

The leuku pattern seems to step up the chopping performance with the broader blade for the size of the knife. I also like handles that have a bit of a drop at the butt, so I can securely chop using a first three fingers grip, putting the balance a bit further forward for the swing.

The seax pattern with the downward sloping handle is a really good all around knife, chopping is really strong, carving is great- the only downside is you lose cutting board performance. But it really works so well for everything else, I'm really happy carring it.

I recently got one of Bryan Breeden's PSKK models, and it's a really good knife.

I have a "throwaway" Western 4 inch general purpose sheath knife that works adequately- any knife will work adequately if you can work with the knife's capabilities. I carry that one when I'm sneak hiking and may be better off ditching a sheath knife if i run into sheeple with officialdom.
