Emerson Sheepdog Flipper Action Concepts exclusive from a few years back in green micarta and S35VN. Great size, feels good in the hand, the micarta has aged very nicely. The steel itself is a bit of a letdown.

S35VN is a fantastic steel. If it's a letdown, somebody didn't do their job right.

I like Vanax better.
The only S35VN I had was in CRK's and none of them held an edge very well. Nice knives aside from that.

CRK was notorious for running their steel too soft. I think they bumped up the HRC for s45vn.

I wouldn't judge the steel based on the edge retention from that knife. It's honestly a very good steel, but not everybody gets good performance from it. Like any steel, the heat treat has to be right and not everybody is heat treating it for the best edge retention.
