What kind of folder do you carry?

I just hope that when Nathan comes out with his version of an EDC folder he makes it easy to carry. Daniel Fairly made this as his indestructible folder but at almost 7 1/2 ounces you have to have suspenders to carry all day.View attachment 2733597View attachment 2733598
I suspect that heft will always be tied into an indestructible folder. If you can only carry a folder- CPK folder
If no restrictions - a CPK EDC 1.2(taking the scales off , getting a kydex sheath made and wrapping some thick rubber bands or grip tape on the handle for traction, makes it disappear in pocket) and a slimmer folder for easy jobs
On the “indestructible must be beefy” tack; the only pocket knife I wasn’t too bummed about losing, was the ZT0300. 8.6oz EDC brick.

Didn’t have it very long before it somehow disappeared from my pocket (surprised I didn’t notice the lack of a cinder block falling out of the pocket).

I still chuckle when I see people lauding the 0300 and 0350. Definition of sharpened pry bars. They don’t cut very well at all. I have numerous other ZT knives, and they’re all better functional knives than the 0300.
If what I recall reading is correct, Nathan at one point said the folder would have D3V scales/slabs. My only fear is that if that’s true, it will weigh quite a lot.

I don't think Nathan would make a overly heavy folder

I think it will have some weight but fantastic balance

I think he might be a machinist .....those guys can mill anything (pockets in pockets in pockets to make things lighter)lol

Oh, I’m sure he could mill the shit out of it to save weight. But all that machine time and cutters costs money. I’m just 🤞 it will not be too $$$ or weigh a lot.

Agreed!

And I like beer..

is it possible to over serve yourself????

That is the true question

I mean you can say the bartender was a jackass..... but what do you say if you are the "bartender"

Hahahahaha

Sneaky SaturD/A, grabbed the old school Microtech/Lightfoot "LCC D/A" on this drizzly morning...such a classic😎

Given the added rust resistance of D3V comes from the Delta heat treat process, I doubt he is going to want to deal with all of the added challenges that will mean for folder scales. Warping, scale, tempering.. all non issues with titanium. Seems like a lot of extra work when you can just do a hardened lock insert.. 🤷‍♀️

Well, we have shared a lot of years together here, and history.

I don't think that every knife necessarily needs one...mostly the ones where it's not cleaned up sufficiently to pass muster. For me, it's an issue with the SHFs I've otherwise admired and could have seen myself owning.

On the other hand, if the knife is pretty much amateurish in most other respects, (not meant in a derisive manner), then it's less of an issue altogether and it wouldn't detract like a blemish on something otherwise nigh on perfect.

Agreed 100% - anything billed as a performance cutter should have a sharpening choil or exceptionally ground plunges that ensure the same profile & thickness through the blade length. Nothing more frustrating than putting in "smilies" when putting a proper edge on a blade.

As later noted/inferred.. worth specifying the difference between a sharpening choil and a finger choil. Not all finger choils are sharpening choils too, but they can be.. :)

Here's an old favorite from Gary Crowder, been in my possession for about 24 years and has seen a lot of use. Gary was a great old school maker I got to know early in my custom knife years and have several pieces from.

Also just added this gem from Tactile, designed by Jared Oeser. A great modern take on a classic design

Non-magnetic Monday...the only non-titanium parts on this awesome John Gray piece are the pivots🤯 The blade is his "Graytanium" Beta-Ti heat treated using processes developed by the one and only Mecha Mecha 😎

Took a chance on the REK fitting with the back spacer. Score! 🍻
Yeah I sure did lol. A backspacer is not supposed to work with this reblade. I know Josh talks about them not working with the 940’s with the factory backspacers. Definitely took a chance here. I thought I was going to have to take a Dremel to it, I was actually surprised when it did fit, SCORE!

Thought there was a pretty strong chance it wouldn’t work at all and was going to have to put it in my 940-1.

Sorry guys, been on jury duty the last two days😂

Throwback Thursday...grabbed the Sarco "ROLL-X" to fiddle with on my last day off, almost the end of leafblowing season😂
