What kind of folders do Beckerheads carry...or do they carry them?

I usually carry a Buck 110, guess i'm kind of old fashioned like that :)

Buck 110 is a great, often overlooked knife. I haven't deer hunted in a few years, but I went down to AL to hunt here recently, and I found these two in my pack. I had entirely forgotten the bird hunter, and the 110 was a little off my radar. Nice surprise finding them in my pack and fondling them a bit.

I LOL at the non tactical nature of everyone's answer!

Seriously though, I rotate through a Spyderco Tenacious, Cold Steel Recon Tanto or Rajah 2 depending on where I am going and what I am doing...

my leatherman SUrge is always in my man sack too!

Folders are important to me because that's what I have on me 100% of the time, and I only have a fixed blade when I'm in the woods. I have had many, many different ones over the years. Sebenzas, Striders and customs included. But for some reason or another I sold or traded them away.

I finally settled on a mini Bone Collector and a mini A100 as the 2 I alternate between. They give me all the function I need around town and in the field, and the cost of right around $100 each doesn't break the bank too badly. I still have other ones, but these 2 see the most carry. There are so many thousands of great knives, it all comes down to personal taste though.

Funny, usually you're on a different planet than I am with knives (you still don't know wtf a gyuto is) but the custom 110 is tits.

I quit carrying folders, at the exact same time the BK14 came out, so, I have a CS Recon 1 Tanto, a Spydie Dragonfly, Kershaw Leek, Opinel #8, Case Stockman, and a Spydie Endura.

I carry none of them. When I did, it was the Recon 1 and the Case Stockman, before that, it was a Spyderco Duo, Endura/Dragonfly.

Honestly, its just easier and faster for me to grab my BK14. I like fixed blades, and they don't tear up ma jeans.

How's the CS Recon 1 Tanto's blade thickness? Been eying one for a bit.

I carry a skeletonized Leatherman folder for box opening and light duty work, carried in left back pocket. A 5.11 karambit folder is in my right front pocket. The leatherman's light blade feels like it'll snap, and the karambit isn't as versatile as I'd like it to be. I was thinking to replace both with a single blade, Recon 1.

EDIT: PICS!

Its fine as far a folders go, its 1/8", I believe, mine is the gen 1 hatamoto style blade, not the new one. It was a gift from a friend, and though it is quite tough, I have aversions to knives made in Taiwan. I carried it for a while and it was a solid knife, no doubt, but I gots me some BK14, and I haven't carried it since.

Thanks Moose.

Around here, fixed blades are generally open carry, and I'd get some funny looks (if not outright panic) if I belt carried. I'd be sporting an EsKabar or Izula for EDC, but alas, I have to keep it a folder.

When I'm in jeans/t-shirt, I carry my BK14 in my right front pocket. When I'm getting dressed up, I usually carry a SOG Flash 2. Actually, I think the Flash might be the only folder I own right now...

Leatherman Skeletool and a Pohl Force Alpha Two these days. Before the Pohl Force it was a Kershaw Tanto Blur and the Skeletool.

And the only reason I carry two is I have had several instances where I needed the pliers to pull on something and a separate knife to cut with at the same time.

The Pohl Force is crazy big. Like super crazy big. Like a quarter of an inch shorter than my BK2 big. And while it does fit in the the pocket, it is a just barely sort of situation. And the blade is 5mm thick.

I love the looks of the Pohl Force knives. They're about as close to a folding Becker as you can get, without being an actual Becker. They are STOUT.

Benchmade Mini-Grip, sand colored handle, Tanto blade with serrations. Love it.

I've been switching between:

Kershaw Leek
Buck Vantage Pro
Kabar Dozier Phat Bob

I really like all 3, but they are very different from each other.

The only one folder always on me is the Vic Farmer. It is the backup, but the older folder constantly changes, so the Farmer is really my most used blade.

EDC'd a Kabar Dozier folding hunter for a long time. Also have an Emerson CQC-11, but it doesn't see much pocket time due to the size. Rock solid blade though. Lately I've been carrying SAK's, either a plain edge OHT, an Outrider, or a Rescue Tool.

Before I got the 14 I always carried my Cold Steel Tilite. AUS 8 steel.
