How large of a knife can you carry at work? I started a new Job a few weeks ago, and everyone is pretty laid back.
While reading the "weapons section" of the company handbook, I saw it stated no firearms, weapons or cutting instruments with a blade over 3".

This company is a management company and is world wide.

Anyway, yesterday in the break room I realized I didn't have a can opener for my canned Steak n' Shake Chili.
So I broke out a 610 Rukus, and began carefully opening the can. The only thing anyone said was, ah, you forgot your can opener. Don't cut yourself.

Everyone else just couldn't care less.

So what if anything can/do you carry at work?

i cant carry anything other than my leatherman. so i carry my leatherman, a vic farmer, a kfu edc, and i have an esee 3 in my bag. stick it to the man

there are rules then there are rules for fools. i carry an emerson CQC from about 1998, tonto with serrated blade or a large sebenza, both go inside the wasteband. other people bring guns but... don't know what the rules are, probably read them once but no one is paying attention

no rules where i work, other than common sense. i try to only carry what i'll use. so if i carry a fixed blade i stick to smaller ones, not anything over an esee 4 size. most times i carry a folder.

Where I work, you are not allowed to carry any kind of "weapon". However, I discreetely carry: a Benchmade Pika II combo edge; a BRKT Bravo Necker 2, a Leatherman Wave, and a .45 cal. Armscor Compact model.

I carry and use my Spyderco Military's and Para 2's.

I think we actually have a no personal knives policy at work. Started when one guy went to stap some cardboard and his Gerber closed on his fingers... That said the work knives are dull as he'll, and we work with machinery that could pop your hand off at the wrist with the push of a button, so they don't mind if smart people carry knives. I carried a Millie every day formmonths.

I carry my Delica 4 in my back pocket clipped, and a Victorinox Tinker in my right front pocket, always have the Vic Classic on my key ring. I have carried everything short of a fixed blade to work and no one has ever said anything other than asking to borrow it once in a blue moon. I am a service advisor for a ford dealership, so I guess you could say I am a salesman.

I have always completely ignored company policies on knives anyway. However, I know some people do follow them.

Just about any SAK, Delica 4, most multi-tools and Fallkniven U2 for me.

Havn't had a negative comment yet.

Max carry length for knives at work? I'll have to ask my boss... wait a minute, I AM the boss...

One good thing about being in the sandbox is that I can carry any knife I want, even in a sheath on my belt.

I didn't ask if there was a policy. Most of the time I have a stockman, trapper or SAK. Every once in a while I have an Endura 4. My Super Tinker is generally the most useful.

I can get away with pretty much whatever - I'm always pretty discreet about using my knife whatever it is, so it hasn't been a big issue for me.

I am sure I could get away with carrying a Kabar USMC knife if I wanted too. I just work in a washbay so we are cutting alot of stuff anyway. We dont even have a company handbook that I am aware of.

Currently in college so not working right now but both my last two jobs had "strict" no knife policys. I carries my large folders at both. I carried an Automatic Tanto while working at Kroger. I wasn't taking their stupid test to carry a lame boxcutter. The factory I worked at next we weren't supposed to either but security guards never checked anything but our lunch bags anyways so the old guys, and me all carried folders.

I work for a public software company. Really laid back. Our VP saw me pull out my benchmade 690 to cut birthday cake.He couldn't care less :) . Now I carry my M390 AFCK.

Butter........ I carried a chunk of oak with a screwed on iron pipe fitting on top, when I drove night hack to get through university.

Using a knife is often a part of my job. Carrying a big fixed blade would be extreme though.
