What knife can you get away with carring at work?

I work at a research laboratory. Knives are okay, but no firearms. One of my co-workers carries a USMC KaBar and he calls it his "soil knife". Haha

I do electrical/mechanical work on sewer pump stations. I can pretty much carry any folder I want. Right now its a Buck Vantage Pro. In a couple of weeks it will be a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan.

I do electrical and mechanical service work. Try stripping the insulation off of copper cable rated to 100 amps and 600 volts with a peanut :P I use a mora HQ craftline jobby (the sheepsfoot one) frequently or a spyderco tenacious. I rarely carry anything big or expensive to work with me, as I just don't have the need to do so.

I think we actually have a no personal knives policy at work. Started when one guy went to stap some cardboard and his Gerber closed on his fingers... That said the work knives are dull as he'll, and we work with machinery that could pop your hand off at the wrist with the push of a button, so they don't mind if smart people carry knives. I carried a Millie every day for months.
Sounds similar to my situation, I actually quit using the "safety" knives they issued to us since I kept cutting myself with it. Actually I am allowed to carry whatever I want, considering the amount of work I do in relation to everyone else in the joint. Although the other week I was accused of carrying a deadly weapon to work by a cross department manager. (not my boss but on the same level as my boss) I was actually in the lunch room eating with a knife open on the table. I gave him a good solid WTF look and said "because I can't cut a steak with a spoon."

I work in a night club and I usually carry a Benchmade Ambush although I have carried my Cold Steel Ti-Lite 4", Kershaw Tanto Blur, SOG Aegis (hate the clip) and my ZT 200ST. To and from my car I carry my Fox 478 Karambit.

We don't have knife or weapon rules at our company. I usually carry an alox Victorinox SAK and a Leatherman Charge TTi.

I carry a vic tinker and a leatherman wave sits in my desk drawer. Use both of them daily, still get people asking me why I have them.

one of the perks of my job - I can carry whatever I have. The knife is our primary working tool here. Today I have a Boker Plus Vox Rold on a drop leg strap and CS Spartan in the front pocket.

As a retired guy I actually "work" pretty hard but set my own rules. Right now I'm carrying a small fixed blade, a BM folder, and a mini SOG. Pay is not so good though!

I work from home (laptop at the kitchen table), so anything goes. Went to court yesterday and had to leave everything in the car (metal detector).

I've told this before, but my bro-in-law is a chemical engineer at Dow. He can't carry a knife, but he does have access to valves that would blow up half of Michigan.

So long as they get blown up good and proper and nobody ends up getting cut:D. I find it funny how some people ask me about that "weapon" I carry around, yet they pay no attention to that huge watermelon splitting knife that I sharpened enough to split a tomato in two by dropping it on the edge(and demonstrated as well).

I've got an electrician who works for me that strips your #3 THHN with a Case Peanut. In fact, he uses it to strip the much bigger stuff too. I saw him the other day stripping some 500 MCM with it. I asked him if he wanted to use my Bravo Necker or ESEE Izula II and he just shakes his head.:D

I conceal-carry what I want, even if I don't use it (max 6'' folder and 4" fixed) so I will not try to carry my CRKT Hisshou

Currently at work my knife of choice is either the 10" cleaver, or the 12" shun... (Love working in a kitchen)

I am carrying something a bit more discrete though. Today I'm carrying a SOG Trident.

My company's employee handbook says "no hunting knives", so that's pretty open to interpretation. I usually carry a Peanut, small Buck Vantage, or a Sodbuster Jr. at work.

My company has a "No Weapons" policy, however if a knife is used as a tool it's not viewed as a weapon. I carried an Air Force survival knife in my bunker gear pocket for several years without issue, but for most of my career a medium sized lock blade of some type has been my companion. Now that I drive a desk instead of a fire truck I carry a smaller knife.

No longer than 3". So for me SAK and Spyderco Delica. Plenty of knife form me plus I have a Stanley sliding utility knive in my desk for boxes...all sharp, all within company regs. Life is pretty good here.

I can carry anything to work. I've worn my Maxx 5.5 and Voyager X2 a few times just for fun, but usually I would just carry my 806D2 and an M16-12z. I bought a Tenacious to replace the M16-12z, so that's pretty much my work knife now. But no one cares. If I know it's gonna be a long, slow day, I'll even bring an airsoft gun to plink around with during the downtime.
