What Knife Curbed Your Knife Buying the Longest?

Hi guys,

I'm always searching for a knife that might make me stop buying knives completely. But since it really isn't about the "perfect knife" for hardly any of us, I highly doubt that will ever happen. That said, some knives have managed to satisfy me long enough that it was quite a stretch before being interested in even looking at pics for awhile.

Well, and if I'm honest, knives I bought twelve or so years ago when I first got into the hobby probably would have been good enough to stop buying, all these years. I'm sure some can relate.

But anyway, I was wondering what knives you found, if any, that satisfied you so much you didn't even need to bother looking around for awhile, much less purchasing. Right now for me it's the Utilitac by Ontario and a cheaper CRKT, tied with a cool little Muela folder my s/o got me from Cuba. I'm still looking at a lot of pics online though... ;)

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to see some controversial looking threads in general that already have many replies and are likely quite juicy... gots to get my knife gossip on. ;)

SAK Explorer Plus. I went over 4 years with a Tinker Deluxe then got the Explorer last year. The Explorer seems to be the end all until I decide I need something else.

I went thru a lot of knives, but the Brad Southard AVO has been in my pocket since late 2014, about 1 1/2 years now. I still buy and sell a few folders, and I read the Exchange every day (multiple times), but nothing serious. I would enjoy it if I could get my present blade-steel replaced with S90V, but I really don't need anything fancy.

Total knife whore here so I can't say I've stopped buying knives...but last December I bought a CKF Sukhoi that has staticefied my "tactical" knife itch. I haven't bought another "modern" knife since then. BUT I've bought about 8 traditional style knives since then. New knives are the spice of life for me. I have enough to last me dozens of lifetimes, but that's not the point.

Spyderco Resilience..... IMHO the perfect EDC though some may be put off by its size ...... it cost me 5000.00+ in just EDC style folders to figure out that it was everything I was looking for....go figure

Sadly, my love of knives will never let me stop buying but I think I've finally gotten over my Bushcraft knife phase, my Tactical Fixed blade phase, my Kukri phase, my Big Chopper phase, and my search for the perfect EDC phase......unfortunately I seem to have entered a Viking Axe, Sword and Spear phase....../sigh

Meanwhile, back at the ranch.... the collection has grown to roughly 350 pieces and now takes up MOST of my man cave while being stored in locking 12 drawer rolling tool cabinets....3 of em....not counting the swords and axes. My dozen AKs are starting to complain and are asking for a room of their own.....

Kids....whatcha gonna do, right?

As for folders, I'm pretty constantly trying to add something new even if it's something inexpensive like an opinel.
Fixed blades though, my becker bk16 lasted me several years. Its only been in the last year that I've purchased any new fixed blades.

Spyderco Tuff.
I haven't bought any others since I picked up this 3V awesomeness.
But not necessarily true now that I think about it.
I bought another Tuff for a backup. :D

For me, I hope it is the next one. But it seldom is. Since i joined Blade Forums, I probably haven't gone 6 months without buying a new blade of some sort.

I was perfectly comfortable with my knife choices 30 years ago and really didn't need to buy anything since then unless I lost or misplaced my regulars. Then gun, and gun and knife, and knife shows entered my life. Need I say more... Only the SAKs get replaced immediately if something happens to one. That's why I keep spares of my favorites. Favorites change, but I don't worry about that.

Well, nothing will stop me from buying knives.
But Boker Exskelibur I Ti framelock would be a knife to satisfy my craving for a while.

In contrary, it also makes me want to buy variants of Exskelibur and other similar spec knives, as it shows me what my taste really is.

My Boker Pipsqueak. I haven't bought another folder since, because I haven't needed to.

I'm still buying fixed blades, but have definitely slowed down after buying 3 Esee's in a row.

Chris Reeve Sebenza 25. I haven't bought another knife since I got it.
(And I've had it a whole month.:))

I have carried my Military the longest...... But, I still buy and trade for more! :D

Pacific Salt made me stop searching for my ideal EDC Folder 2 years ago. It's been in my pocket ever since I got it.
But I've bought many other knives, fixed and folder, just because I like knives, and to try new grinds/steels/shapes etc.

I am quite sure my PacSalt will remain the EDC folder for years to come, though

Finances stop me much more than any knife I buy. I long ago accepted that I like different blades for different uses and I can ALWAYS make up another excu...err, I mean use to justify another knife. ;)

It's June and I'm at 7 new blades so far this year (essentially one per month). The Blade show was not kind to my wallet. But I'm happy. They happened on two buying days spaced months apart. I'm not counting the two small Leatherman multi-tools I purchased. They have gotten used quite a bit.

I purchased the buck 119, a huntsfield knife at 50% for 10 bucks (great quality for so cheap) and a schrade machete. I want to save up for an endura or Delica and hope i wont buy anymore after that

The Resilience is great, size and all. I used to have backups of it in fact. Kinda wish I still did, just cuz. I love backups.
