What knife do you hate the most?

The Tom Brown Tracker knife.:thumbdn:

It’s just to over hipped for what it is. There are better, cheaper options out there. And the fact that the movie it was in made it look like an offensive weapon is just ridiculous.:jerkit:

Wow. Watch a lot of TV, do ya?

Unfortuantely for someone who was on the nerdy side and was once a target of bullies those seem just a little more real than the reality shows you watch...
The phoney gentlemen part was not my personal experience but an observation.

anything made with serrations, chisel grind, "tanto" unless it is a real one.

Most of all, ANYTHING THAT CALLS ITSELF "TACTICAL."

Knives were designed for real combat for thousands of years with people really living or dying by the blade and their skills. Now, the best knife to carry into combat is probably a swiss army knife. Use the extra weight saved to carry more ammo or some high tech device to give you intelligence about locations of you and your enemy. Or a way to call for backup.

But knives are a very good way to reach out and touch some one. Especially when space and the malfunction of, or loss of a primery fire arm are a factor. I at least still take and depend on blades for more than utility. :grumpy:

I agree... Or those times you really want some MFer to PAY.

I don't like the looks of the Mad Dog knives( and at $1500.00),I'm sure their great knives and have their place but boy are they ugly- also as of late lots of the Gerbers-and fantasy knives

Hmm.

Different strokes and all that considered. I respect that people like what they like even if I do not like it. Meatloaf and bologna come to to mind here...

I cant stand overhyped knives that arent any better than what I'm carrying in my pocket.. Does it cut ? Is it reliable ? then I'm fine.
I actually cant stand the fan-boy attitude more than the actual product , Sebenza comes to mind here. I'm positive it is a wonderful knife as it damn well better be for the price but enough with the 'buy a sebenza' koolaid drivel , there are hundreds and hundreds of fantastic knives out there for many differen applications , why settle for one is my opinon.
Not to mention the knife pictures ! I do enjoy knife pictures , especially when they are well done but why is it everytime someone posts a certain , expensive tactical style folder that there are bullets and Maxpedition gear underneath it ? note 9.9 times out of 10 the knife is quite unused and most likely will remain so.
Collecting is cool and a fun hobby , posting pics of a mint condition knife with para-military gear by it always makes me wonder what they are trying to convey.
"look how cool I am , I have killer gear , most of which is totally unused". :D

I cant stand fully serrated blades , they might look vicious but man , I cannot fathom resharpening that when the time comes.

I cant stand the concept of a knife that needs to be sent in for 'spa treatment'. Are you kidding me ?? Sharpen it , tighten it up respectively , lube the pivot and move on with your life.

I cannot stand all the different plasticy handle materials ala Endura , Delica.

I guess that's my list. - Hope nobody is offended , remember we all have different tastes and those are mine. :)

I've owned many, many, knives and these are among the worst:

  • Kershaw Vapor
  • Gerber Ridge
  • Cold Steel Ti-Lite (titanium)
  • Cold Steel Nightshade Boot Blade
  • S&W Cuttin' Horse

I hate pretty much any of Tom Krein's older knives because I can't find anyone who will let me pry one from their hands (that's just selfish - you guys need to share :D ).

In all seriousness (and I know I'll get some flack here), I absolutely hated the Ka Bar USMC knife I bought. I really thought it was a "Rambo" worthy survival knife and I took it out camping for light/medium use and bent both the tang and the hilt/guard.

That and the Gerber LMF II - I could spit on that knife and dull it. I loved the reviews of how easy it was to put an edge on it - it better be since you have to do that every 5 minutes if you're really using it for any kind of cutting. The handle looked like it was designed for a much larger blade (even though it was constructed like a toy - with almost no steel-tang in the handle at all and yet it had a glass-breaker in the pommel).

I've gone to a few Busse Combat knives and a few ESEEs for fixed-blades and never looked back. They do what I need them to do and don't have anything fancy that I don't need.

Anything SOG... Before I got into knives I carried a Buck Parallex for a while and it was great... Until sum idiot(me) decided to do some knife throwing with it. So I went on youtube and found out about nutnfancy and his high approval for SOG knives. So I bought the Twitch 2, the Flash 1 and their Tech Bowie all in the same day. BAD IDEA :barf: sorry SOG but you guys can do alot better:grumpy:

I really want to try out the Strider knives, but the QC issues and bad service is turning me off.

I think this thread should go to W&C so people can properly vent :D

Darn, you brought up a repressed cutlery memory. When I saw this thread I couldn't think of a specific knife because I had managed to forget that piece of crap. It couldnt get sharp at all even with diamond stones and the super dull edge it did have just kept getting duller and duller. I did find a use for it however, as a firesteel striker the blade works quite well with the handle removed and I can even squeeze it hard without cutting myself.

Oh and I will also add the Sanranmeu axis lock knives. They blatantly stole the mechanism from Benchmade. Unless they are paying royalties to BM which I doubt or the patent expired or something.

Someone please correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure that the axis lock patent has expired and I don't think they have renewed it.

Gerber Icon Tanto, pivot got loose and nothing can bring it back. thing shakes worse than michael j fox

This and some of the politics have kept me from picking up an SNG. I feel the same way about the HEST/f - its almost as if something is keeping me from buying one every time I try.

Guess I'm confined to the secondary market for both.

I hated the SOG Trident Tanto. I bought it on a whim at a sporting goods store before I left for College and wanted to upgrade from a hand me down knife. Worked OK for a day or 2 and then got loose, got sloppy, dull, and I cracked the tip off when it fell off my desk into carpet and fell over sideways. Not exactly Tough.

On a lighter note, I hate my Umnumzaan and my ZT 301. Both see way too much pocket time and dont allow any of my other knives time to see the outside world.

This, but I'd add any SOG that uses that zytel plastic stuff for the handle. I like polymers, some FRN and G10 and stuff but that stuff that SOG uses is slippery, cheap feeling, way too light and chips easily. Wicked fast opener though...

As others have already posted, my first and last SOG knife.

Sog and Gerber:barf: Gerber is just junk period. The ex carries one that breaks once every couple of months. I tried to convince her she needed a delica but she would hear nothing of it. Only positive is the gerber takes five minutes to sharpen.
