What knife do you own that you would never part with?

That would have to be my Josh Smith damascus and pearl knife and for a "production" model my Severtech, the purple one.

What did that Palm Tree ever do to you?!?! :p

This one I can never part with.. My dad gave it to me for my first fathers day and I had it in my pocket for luck on my wedding day.

Chris Reeve Shadow 7". I've had it since I was 17, and it's been nearly everywhere that I have been.

The knife I will never part with is one ground by the late Bob Engnath that I hand polished and put the micarta handle on myself. I cried, bleed, and swore during the finishing process. I came to appreciate the knife makers skill on the project. I also have a Gerber Mark II Dagger that will never part with.

Most of my knives aren't irreplacable or so unique that I can't find something close enough to my liking.

This is my newest favorite and one of my gems.

I've got a few that I wouldn't give up. They are: an old Cold Steel Voyager, it's a medium, fully-serrated tanto with an integral plastic pocket clip. It's old, ugly, and has the dullest serrations you could ever find. However, it was given to me by a friend a month after my leg was crushed by a boulder (long story). It was my first EDC and I really used it. It now resides in my dresser. Next up is my Griptilian in D2. It was a Chrsitmas gift from my parents and my first self-chosen EDC. The more I use it (had it for 1 1/2 years, now), the more I love it.
In fixed blades, I wouldn't part with my CS SRK (first fixed blade purchased), my Greco Explorer (first handmade knife purchased), or the first knife I made by hand. It's a 4" bladed, modified clip-point hunter of 1095 steel and bubinga handle slabs. I'm gonna have to learn how to post pics

Probably get some neg rep points,oh well!Any of my Shiva Ki's,Spirit blades and Merc's.Although I did part with a Merc' as a gift to a friend who is proudly serving this great country in Iraq.

My little Case Peanut I've had since I was 8, and my dearly departed grandfather's micarta handled case with one of the blade springs broken and the blades all messed up from trying to sharpen it on concrete. I love him and keep his knife in rememberance, but he sure didn't know how to take care of one. I've got bunches of other knives I'd hate to part with, but those two would be the last ones to go.

This is easy. Gotta be Kit Carson's personal EDC that I obtained from him at Blade/04. He carried it for two years before it found it's way to my pocket. Just doesn't get any better than that for me. :)

My great-grandfather's folding bowie, a beautiful knife with lots of history.

My family's "starter" knife is another one I'd hate to loose. It's a small bowie, made by a now dead Argentinian knifemaker with Swedish steel, the pommel has a lion's head. Since my great-grandfather got it as a gift, it has been the first knife for every male boy in the family, once you learned your basics with it you had to pass it on. The last recipient was my little brother (now 17). Kids do awfull things to the blade, but our tradition is not to fix them right away, they are left like that until a new boy is born, and then the previous owner fixes it for him. It will be my son's first blade, and with any luck it will be his son's first blade.

My other great-grandfather passed on a very nice small collection of Spanish penknives, I'd hate to loose them, too.

And finally, I'd really hate to loose my first good knife, a custom given to me by my dad that has the perfect design for me and has been on my side everywhere.

Loosing some of my expensive knives would really bother me, but I would trade them all for the ones that have emotional meaning in a heartbeat. You just can't put a price on them.

First of all, EVERYTHING has it's price, and I'm probably not the best person to answer this question, but that's never stopped me before!! :D :D :D Right know I'd have to say my Coyote Brown Strider AR., or my soon to come Hinderer Firetac Extreme w/bowie blade!

I don't have any with strong significance attached to them, family members passing them on to me or otherwise sentimental. So none of them. They can all be replaced if need be. As nice as they are, they are just objects. It would hurt to lose some of them I guess but I don't get too attached to any of them. They are tools, and I try to treat them as such.

Other than some 'junkers' and duplicates, I'd hate to part with any of them. I'd particularly hate to lose my grandfather's knife.

I don't carry it every day, but my fave folder would have to be my J.W. Smith mini-Scimitar. The workmanship and finish are just superb, I love using it and playing with it. I have a few knives with sentimental value, the Western M49 Bowie my father gave me, and his AIR-SOG, those I'll never part with.

Hey Sheldrake, I'm with ya on that one! The blade on mine is 5 1/2". It's been a long time, obviously, but I seem to remember my Uncle waiting a couple years from when he ordered it until delivery.
The only thing nicer than a gen-u-ine Morseth is a WELL USED gen-u-ine Morseth!

For me it would my flat-ground Sebenza, my C19 Bob T Jr. which took me 2 years to find, and a Spyderco Abalone Mini-Mariner which was a gift from Sal.

Two.

One is an old Felsenheld stockman that was my great-grandfather's. The clip blade is wobbly and worn, the former spey is a toothpick, and the handles are beat, but it has been passed to me.

Two is my Old Timer 8. Lots of memories in that knife. Camps in 8 states, a National Jamboree, my OA Vigil. First and last days of college, a med school interview, and everything in between. It's semi-retired now, but still rides along every once in a while.
