What knife do you regret selling?

Recently sold a GEC 77 clip point that I’m starting to regret. However my main knife transactions regrets come from the few times I overpaid for a knife only to see the same one on the knife exchange a few days later for way less.

My custom Olamic Rainmaker. It was XHP, micarta and copper. Really cool knife but I traded it away and haven't been able to track it down again. There are others, but that's the only one I'm actively seeking to get back.RDT_20210725_2237555667770236456389444.png

Marriage played havoc on my knife collection. Even though it was only 1 year, it saw me sell of 2/3 of my collection to pay bills. My ex was a spendthrift, and so I was constantly getting notices that certain bills that were supposed to be her responsibility.

I could probably buy most of that collection back, despite being 6-7 years ago. The only one I truly regret is the one that is not attainable, mostly due to lack of availability but also price--A Brian Tighe Tighe Rod.

I've never sold a knife. I have bought some for family and given a few away. If I needed some money that quick, I would hock something at the pawn shop, but not any of my knives. I don't trust pawn shops that much.

Medford Viper
Medford Arktika
Spyderco Vallotton Sub-Hilt D/A
Large Regular Annual Sebenza Boxwood Elder burl
Small Sebenza Mammoth bark in ladder damascus.
Rockstead Shin DLC
Old pivot Star-tac Umnumzaan
Gen3 non-flipper sterile XM18 3.5"
Praetorian Ti vulcan

OK, I'm depressed now. 😬
I’ve never heard of either of those Medfords, must be rare

I wish I still had a lot of them. A lot of old spydercos, some old sebenas, and benchmades. Definitely all of the GECs and other tradionals like queen and s&m i sold. RIP

I had a large Wilson Combat 21 that I wish I still had (wink wink to anyone out there sitting on one, or a crosshatch.) I also haven't kept an Mnandi, but wish I had a permanent one in my collection. I kinda wish they'd do just a plain TI variant at a lower price point because that's what would make me really happy, or even a non-polished micarta.

More than regretting the sale of any knife, I regret the circumstances that led me to doing it. Before 2018, the idea of selling a knife was laughable to me. Harsh economic realities made it a lot less funny. Along those lines, I regret buying and using knives that cost a lot at the time, but that I later had a need to sell. In most cases, they were not worth it, or not worth the loss of value due to using them. Better to have never bought them.

My first ZT was a 0770cf in Elmax I shouldn’t have sold. I also sold a 0450cfzdp and a 0456cf I regret selling.

I wish I had few of the knives I used to own every now and then but I don't really regret selling them. Some of my sells burned me in the past but they all have been just knives and I haven't missed them anymore.

Bladeforums doesn't have the bandwidth for me to make a detailed list of all the knives I've sold and regretted... :p

Just like guns...

ALL my original Al Mars (Woodsman, Quicksilver, SERE, and more), an early Buck Nighthawk (dark blade finish), Gerber BMF (even though it was almost useless in actual woods use), SOG Trident that was a gift from first wife, early Cold Steel Tanto, Brian Goode Bushcraft (1 of 1 !), etc. However some fo these went to good homes (other knife nuts) and I couldn't afford to "collect" and simply keep them just because, if I was not using them. This only scratches the surface...

Gossman's..........so many Gossman knives.

Should have kept them all.

Also a Skookum Bushtool with orange G10 scales. Should have kept that one. I've owned a dozen or more of the damn Bushtool, but that one was special and rare.

I had a small left handed Sebenza 21 insingo BladeHQ exclusive with the carbon fiber inlays. I know it was a grail for the guy that bought it, and I used it to fund a large CRK, but I still have fond memories of that little guy.

my wilson combat left handed large sebenza 21 :( I should have never got rid of it. I rarely ever carried it because it was too expensive for me to feel comfortable using it and I didnt like how my wedding ring felt gripping it either. Oh well I regret selling it I think I could have grown into it.
