What knife features do you HATE that others LOVE?

wood handles on a knife
paracord handles on a knife
bead blast
stonewash
thumbstuds
I f*cking hate busses, period.
your 600 dollar knife doesn't chop as well as my 100 dollar axe
tacticool HSLD camo knifes (Strider, ZT, a few benchmades)
tip up/or tip down only carry (i like spydies way of dealing with that)
flippers
assisted openers
exaggerated designs
extremely large pocket knives *cough* cold steel *cough*
serrations
anything not FFG or at least close

Serrations turn me off on "most" knives. Never cared for lanyards period. Just me, nothing wrong with them..Big time marketing hype and groupies make me cringe at times but that dosnt stop me from buying a good folder..
I prefer to let the knife speak for itself..

Wish people would elaborate on their reasoning for some of these. It's interesting to hear why people don't like things; less so to just read a laundry list of popular features.

Tip-up carry
- I'm fine with it being an option but I don't like that it's seen as the "only" or "proper" way to orient a pocket clip by a lot of people. The way that I draw a folder for normal thumb-stud deployment just lends itself much better to tip-down carry (I have to shift my grip after pulling the knife out of my pocket with tip-up). The only time I prefer tip up is if my main deployment method is a tactical reverse-grip flick. Overall it's not a deal-breaker though. I will still readily buy a cool knife that is exclusively tip-up carry.

Blade coatings - They're going to get scratched, scuffed, and ugly-- usually quickly. Much like plastic, one scratch looks bad, tons of heavy scratches look worse. They just show wear in a way that is not aesthetically pleasing to me. I can't bring myself to buy a heavy use knife with a coating unless it's very cheap and I don't care how it looks.

Spyder-hole opening - I can't seem to open them comfortably or smoothly. I won't outright not buy a knife with a Spyder-hole, but it's not my choice for anything I want to be able to deploy quickly or smoothly.

Serrations
tanto blades
anything 'tactical'
blade coatings
hard to see colours (if I crop it I can't find it)
lame teenager-looking designs (ex: HEST scales)........

Pre made tassel skull lanyards that look like kids used to make in summer camp

Too many of these threads are just lists of things they hate, including mostly things that the majority of Bladeforums hates. The topic is more interesting if people list features that are popular here that they don't like. Seriousy, I don't think anyone on bladeforums advocates dull knives or overpriced knives...:P

Thumb plates, highly polished blades or handles, tantos, chisel grinds, brightly colored handles(yellow, orange).

this thing just looks plain silly

Deep carry pocket clips... Impossible to wave draw into a decent fighting grip.

As time goes on I'm liking super grippy G10 less and less as time goes on, and jimping for that matter. It doesnt look as good and I've never had a problem gripping a knife. nutnfancy and I have very different ideas.

I hate a lot of things, but on knives?
yeah they must be chisel grind, serration (sorry serration guys), and swedge edge.
But a lot of guys love those things, and you gotta bear it.
the solution is just pick up other design, the one that you don't hate.

SO...what's the knife feature that YOU LOVE but OTHERS HATE :))

wow, hard to find you a gift :-?

Coated Blades I see no purpose for them in the slightest. Whether it's stainless steel or old fashioned, high carbon steel. All it does is protect the looks, as the edge is the only part that matters if it gets a little rusty when you're camping, and the edge can still rust since it is obviously not coated. And then the coating starts to wear off and it looks like crap anyways. Nice, natural patina > scratched up coating.

Assisted Opening Fun to play with, pointless for actually using, IMHO.

Overstated Aesthetics Even on high quality knives, but when they simply have so much going on it just looks like some sci fi creation and not a knife. For example Brian Tighe knives. I'm sure the quality is outstanding, but the style is just completely unattractive to me.
