What knife features do you HATE that others LOVE?

pink stuff

waved blades

most tantos

hate the look of the spydiehole, love the functionality

anything that looks like it should be in a fantasy magazine

not a fan of most coatings

wary of assisted openers, but still like a few

Assisted opening.

Yeah, they can be a fun toy to play with, but do you really need "assistance" to open a modern folder?

Black blade coatings.

They don't do it for me aesthetically, can interfere with slicing, and their protectiveness of the blade is overstated.

Don't like (but not necessarily deal breakers):

serrations(though I haven't tried out kershaws serrations yet)
tip down carry only
knives who's pocket clips make the knife stick way out of your pocket
wave designed knives that are tip down carry
ambidextrous thumb studs
fantasy knives
cheap chinese $#%* that won't sharpen for anything, or breaks fast.

Not a fan of
-Serrations (unless it is a rescue specific blade)
-assisted opening
-recurves

Like
-Plain Edges
-Opening Holes
-choils
-flat grind

Tantos, Flippers, Bead-Blast, and on every one of my Busse's I love, there's a
"Talon Hole" I could do without.

Digital camo and OD green handles. It just seems pointless to make the knife harder to see when you drop it on the ground.

Deep carry pocket clips. I mainly carry slipjoints, so pocket clips aren't too important to me. But it seems pointless to have a clip if it makes the knife ride so low in the pocket that it's hard to get out. Spyderco's Military/Paramilitary pocket clip is the absolutely best clip out there in my opinion (when I do carry a clipped knife, it's a Paramilitary).

Overweight, over-sized, overbuilt, overly thick folding pry-bars; in other words, most popular trendy "tactical" knives. Thin blades cut better than thick ones; thick blades sell better than thin ones. Go figure.

Cheap sprayed-on coatings instead of decent blade finishes, especially mall-ninja tiger-stripes.

Juvenile motifs (flames, skulls, dollar signs, etc.).

Flat, ugly slabs of textured black G-10; looks like a ping pong paddle or a rubber floor mat (as well as Zytel, Delrin and other cheap plastic handle materials.).

Overtly militarized, aggressive, faux-"hardcore," ugly-for-ugly's sake designs (most Emersons, Striders, ZTs, etc.).

Cheap galvanized trashcan finishes (stonewash, etc.).

Trendy, semi-functional blade grinds ("tanto," chisel grind, excessive recurves, etc.).

One of the keywords in the above list is cheap: Cheap finishes; cheap coatings; cheap handle materials, and the ridiculous "tactical" marketing trend that attempts to validate these cheesy shortcuts as desirable "features" that are somehow worthy of inclusion on "high end" production knives, and even some very expensive customs. Talk about laughing all the way to the bank.

when knives have both a flipper and thumb studs, or thumb studs in general.

I like using thumb studs but they get in the way when sharpening and pulling the knife out of pocket.

acid etch logos on blades I just hate it.. don't mind stamps... sterile blade is best.

anything convex, and uncoated carbon steel. i dont necessarily hate them but they just dont work for me.

assisted opening - its just another thing to break, get dirty, and have to clean

tanto blades - unnecessary for general use/ edc

thumbstubs - at least the ones that ive used

combo edge blades!

Serrations.
Coated Blades.
Tacticool Blades. (camo, skulls, etc.)
Large Blades.
Heavy Blades.
Funky/Impractical blade designs (recurves, waves, etc.)
Hard to sharpen super steels.

it seems like nobody likes tantos or chisel ground blades. I don't either.

I'm also not a fan of camo, although I dislike hunting style (realtree etc.) more than military style camo.

I also don't like metal handles in general.
