What knife makes the best sound?

Just wondering when opening your knife, as I was just doing while having breakfast, which knife has the best sound when you open it? Has nothing to do with quality of knife, just the best sounding knife. Without a doubt it's my Benchmade 551 Grip, any BM grip for that matter, for me anyways. Struck me as odd because of the molded handle. I think because of the handle it actually amplifies the crisp SNAP sound it makes.

This is not new to me, I've always thought the SNAP was a nice crisp clear sound from my grip, just wondered what knife of yours sounds the best when opening?

Best for a liner: Millie. No contest.
Best for a frame: SMF. Again, no contest.
Best backlock: Chinook. Haven't heard a Manix though.

I'd have to say that my old CRKT M21 made the funniest sound when it locked.... Like a "twang" sorta sound.

Ditto on the Military and SnG/SMF; I've always liked the "CLACK" that a large bladed liner/frame lock with G10 makes when opened quickly.:D

I have an older bayonet with metal scabbard fittings. The sound as the bayonet is removed... music to my ears. Like a Shinggg noise.

For a second choice, a very well made AG Russell Swing Guard. There's no sound at all, until the black locks into open position with a firm, but not obnoxious, click.

Interesting topic!

+1 on swing guard, esp if it's a leaf sprung auto:D

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love the sound of a slipjoint with some nice springs. That distinctive snap of the spring coming down and "locking" the blade open puts a smile on my face every single time. It's kind of how I determine if a knife is working properly. If that knife doesn't snap, something's wrong with it.

Total agree on the slippie sound. A couple others I enjoy the sound of is a CRKT (not expensive at all) but a sweet sound comes from my "My Tighe" AO full size. When it completes it's opening there's a neat resonance you can hear and feel in hand. Another is my ZT 0200, yea that bank vault thing:thumbup:

Ah yes, I forgot about "the walk and the talk of a fine slippie."

Benchmade 9050 KAWACK(!), then the Kershaw Leek.

My Schrade Deer Slayer has two nice sounds, first the pop of the keeper strap, then the nice sharp metalic scrape sound. It was often the last sound that hogs and lambs ever heard.

The Spyderco Military is hands down the loudest knife I own, all three of them. I think it has something to do with the sound of the liner lock being amplified by the handle scales, it echoes pretty good outdoors. I can get the ZT 0200 to come close.

Without a doubt the finest sounding lock up I have heard is a the CS Rhino. Very cool sound and a very loud thwack when flipped open. keepem sharp

There's nothing quite like the resounding "CLACK" my Chinook III makes when I open it.:D;)

My Al Mar Shrike makes this 'cklek' kinda sound. A bit feminine, a bit nagging, not too loud.. It is not exactly a nice sound but it reminds of of my ex-wife and makes me find an excuse why I am buying that Extrema Ratio again. Brrr..
