Ahhhh, the more things change...LOL
The almost default answer is going to be a multi-tool of some sort. A soldier carries so much stuff that they're not going to want to carry something that can only do one thing, you know?
Source: I know, work with, and am related to folks who have served in four of the five armed forces (don't know any Coasties!).
Any particular brand of Multitool?
Leatherman and Gerber multi-tools win out, because that's what they sell at the PX/BX.
Well if that's what they sell at PX/BX it must be good enough
And the military/pm2 seem like good options for a folder, or a griptilian
Uhhh, Spyderco Military?
In all honesty I would get a good Leatherman Wave ... Charge Ti or as mentioned the MUD ... a Sak for a small easy to use option ... and if you wanted anything more I would make it a good fixed blade ...
Aren't you often issued a fixed blade in the military?
