What knife would you bring with you or want to have an you deploy, and why? Any branch and any countries military :)

Ahhhh, the more things change...LOL

The almost default answer is going to be a multi-tool of some sort. A soldier carries so much stuff that they're not going to want to carry something that can only do one thing, you know?

Source: I know, work with, and am related to folks who have served in four of the five armed forces (don't know any Coasties!).

Any particular brand of Multitool?

A Skeletool or Wave(but i guess the MUD is made for this exact purpose?)and a solid folder. PM2, full size grip, 0562, something along those lines.

Leatherman and Gerber multi-tools win out, because that's what they sell at the PX/BX.

Well if that's what they sell at PX/BX it must be good enough

And the military/pm2 seem like good options for a folder, or a griptilian

I don't require your eye-roll, you asked, and I answered based on actual experience. There are a ton of military posts where about the only places they sell knives/tools are either the exchange, or that town's Wal-Mart.

In all honesty I would get a good Leatherman Wave ... Charge Ti or as mentioned the MUT ... a Sak for a small easy to use option ... and if you wanted anything more I would make it a good fixed blade ...

Aren't you often issued a fixed blade in the military?

you get issued many things but there are usually better options for alot of things ... and what youre issued may serve you just fine ... just thoughts on some good options if you want an upgrade

I would probably pick the Victorinox Spirit multi-tool.

I'm not sure what I'd suggest for a clip knife. Maybe an Endura 4, or something else good but not too expensive.

Something cheap that you won't have a stroke if it gets stolen or destroyed for a folder. Gerber multi tool is what i carried, sometimes they issue a bayonet depending on your MOS and sometimes they don't mostly don't anymore. Fixed blade the cold steel SRK is small enough not to be in the way and strong enough to pry open crates, most common use for one.

I don’t think so, unless things have changed from 30 years ago (which they certainly could have). I guess my response is limited to US Army as well, so could be wrong on other services and countries.

I would go with a multi tool as the handiest thing to have. I sometimes carried a traditional folder, but that was as much a holdover from alway having done so as anything else.
