What Knife would you like to see made?

good thread, and timely.

I have one in the process of being made now. The blade is much like that of a Randall Made #25, 6 inches long. It will have a little more belly though, and a different choil. The handle will be much like that of a RC-6. Slender, flat, but with a palm swell. The steel is A2.

Can't wait to get it. :D

I wish powder coating big blades would go out of fashion and EVERYTHING was just made made with a satin finish. Could you imagine.

I think coatings have their place, especially on steels that are very prone to rust. I sold off a satin 52100 blade because it rusted way too easily, even with regular treatment with tuff cloth. If it were coated I might have hung onto it.

What I would like to see is for certain companies to stop charging a massive premium for satin blades - some blades cost several hundred dollars more for their satin versions, compared to the coated ones. That's just ridiculous.

I would like to see more 2.5"-3" fixed blades with full size handles. Or I would like to be pointed to the ones that are already available in the custom arena.

I would also love to see a custom versions of the Spyderco Bill Moran models in a steel that Mr. Moran would have used in a full convex to zero grind. :)

Then I would like to see a full exposed tang version of the Spyderco Bill Moran with CPM 10V and burlap fibermscus or Krein textured G10.

Here's one Brian Andrews made for me in D2. The blade is 3 1/8"

Strange ya say that, I'm having a 3" bladed knife with a 4" handle made by Matt of ML knives !

John of JK Knives does a similar version that looks real nice as well !;)

This is another in the Huron line, the Huron EDC. These are the specs:

7 1/4" overall
3" blade
1/8" thick
1 1/8" tall at the widest part of the blade
7/8" tall handle

Let`s hear your thoughts on this one.

I'd like to see billhooks become more mainstream in the North American market. Fiskars has had a lot of success with their "brush thinner" model, and Condor has their Bush Knife (which I dearly love) but there are lots of great potential variants and designs out there--the double edged ones especially since you can use the back edge in situations where the hook would be a nuisance. A lot of versatility in a compact package! I'd especially like to see a variant of the Hertford pattern with the back hook sharpened. :)

I would like lobster with a curved jaw cuticle nipper. My teeth suck at that job. A Victorinox money clip with a real file would be great. They used to make them that way. A Benchmade Osborne 943 and/or McHenry and Williams 710 with an S90V blade would be killer. The Boker Cera Titan kitchen knives were/are great. They could stand to be undiscontinued. The Microtech Tachyon butterfly disappeared too soon as did the Camillus CUDA MAXX. The S90V Militaries have dried up, and the Ti Militaries aren't far behind. A Sebenza with an S90V blade and an anodized finish would be great. Smatchets seem to be in short supply.

I want someone, anyone to make a one hand opening folder with a pocket clip and a carbon steel blade. A2, O1, 1095, doesn't matter. I just want an easy to sharpen, tough, edge holding blade in a folder that I can carry every day. Don't know why the only carbon pocket knives available are slip joints.
You want a CS Trail Guide. Cheaply made, but very comfortable handles, fully flat ground, and great carbon steel. You can probably still find them on ebay or around here. One of my all time favorites!

I'd like to see more designs like the Hossom's machete that appeared in this forum, a couple of years before, in rust-resistan steel (whe I live, is a must).

Everyone is familiar with Cold Steel's inexpensive line-up featuring the Finn Bear, Roach Belly, etc. I'd like to see a version of the Outdoorsman and the no longer made Mini-Outdoorsman in similar construction and price points.

I love the finn bear, It may be the only stainless knife I'm in love with as far as design and performance. I don't know why but it always takes a super sharp edge and stays that way, even though it's made of crap steel. I wrapped the handle with leather cuz the plastic is obviously cheap.

How 'bout a nice slender B&T? I don't want a fillet knife, but something slender w/ a bit of reach and a almost full 4 finger handle.. carbon steel for the edge..

I'd definitely like to get another B&T or two. I remember seeing a set of three damascus B&T's at BLADE that were completely calling my name. I've regretted passing on them ever since the show.

more bush knives with multi color earth tone coatings, and more earth tone kydex sheaths that can be belt, vertical strap and PALS mounted.

- kydex sheaths that will accept MOLLE accessory pouches on them. In other words, PALS rails on the kydex sheaths

- more dual shoulder rig kydex sheaths for large knives and wilderness kit pouches
