What knife would you like to see next from CPK?

I'm not positive but I think there's a pretty good chance that it will look at least a little bit something like this

Hmm. Not sure I'm sold on the transition to deeper belly profiles on the front end of second generation models.
After using both the EDC and EDC2, my preferential decision came down the pointier blade of the original EDC model. I find that most utility tasks for cutting require a "plunge" prior to the "slice." A more aggressive tip aides in the process of piercing, then cutting. Then again, I guess this is why it's not called the "utility knife."

Perhaps I don't follow this sub-forum enough to know whether or not there was an overwhelming request to add more belly to the profiles? Otherwise, the handle appears to be a nice improvement .

It is a utility knife. I like the belly towards the tip on a Field Knife because I don't split the pelvis when processing game, I like a relatively narrow blade with the curvature near the tip to reach up in there to disconnect the "bits" from the surrounding tissue so I can tie them off from outside then pull them through without severing anything. It also does well edge out to unzip the hide along the legs without nicking meat (which is about all the skin I cut, I mostly just pull the rest off). That blade shape is also pretty well optimized for the way I use a blade in the shop for deburring. I think it's pretty ideal for a tradesmen to deburr pipe, pop nubs from the ends of saw cuts etc and it's pretty robust so the average knuckleheads (who pry) don't need to worry about breaking the tip off when trying to spread a joint open or even just popping staples out of the ends of their lumber.

We're going to do a Kephart next year with a finer point for folks who do more piercing and carving tasks.

Well, it is certainly refreshing to understand the "method to the madness" ;). I assumed that the change was likely geared towards field dressing tasks, but it's interesting to hear your input with regards to other tasks, like in your shop.

Thanks for the heads up on the Kephart. This may be more in line with my personal needs.

All in all , the HDFK is best in the bunch, it’s gonna be hard to beat . Combat knife - to me yup, Nate says no . Shiv is more of fighter in my mind :eek:o_O:confused: Combat is one that can do it all, fight , open crates, cut rope , shave , did I mention disperse an enemy to the next dimension, bushcraft ect. Well the HDFK fits the bill.

Just like to see Nates idea of a real combat knife.

KOD is definitely an apocalypse blade eve though I haven’t seen it. 2 handed 20inch blade

it's my dream to one day have a D3V CPK brushing blade

Wow, some of you fellas are so disciplined! My financial acumen was gained by hanging around drunken sailors!

Well your finacial situation could increase dramatically if you were the ONE sober one in the bunch of druken sailors ... cards anyone?

And I'm with you Tony I already set funds asdide to cover the FK 2.0 whenever it's offered ... and maybe enough extra for a DEK if they come out to ... don't want to be caught off guard.

Spend first, think later (actually don't think, it'll be easier!)
