What knives do you actually use day to day?

I'm not a collector (no offense to those that do, I just don't self identify as one is all). I guess I would call myself a user who appreciates a good tool, and so I do a lot of research to find what tool I feel like fits my specific use cases best (EDC, camp, chopper, machete, kitchen, etc). Hence, when I end up buying one, I tend to keep it for a long time.
. . .

What he ^ said. :~)

For the past year, I have carried a Bradford Guardian 3 on my belt, an alox Victorinox Farmer in my pocket, and a Vic Classic on my keychain. The Guardian gets 90% of the use, but the Farmer has a saw and bottle opener and punch, and the Classic has scissors and tweezers. In the past week, I have swapped out the Guardian for an original Street Beat that I had picked up recently and am trying out. When I can't wear a fixed blade (in some jurisdictions out here) I have a Manix 2 instead. I also have dedicated tools for specific tasks like the Mora in the kindling pail for the back yard firepit.

I own more knives than I've listed, but if I get a knife and decide I don't like it, I will give it to someone I think will appreciate it or sell it.

Enjoy

for the last month or so, and for the foreseeable future, a spyderco domino
prior to that, it was a kizer velox2 since november
a kershaw injection for a few months before that
and a buck mayo cutback for 10+ years prior to that

If there is a constant im my selections, it is the Alox Electrician, unless I am in the woods, when I sub my Farmer. For the past few months it hs been the Opinel 6 and the Okapi Biltong. I might pair one of rhe wood handles with a slip joint. An improved Muskrat or Drover with the Opinel, or the Biltong with a peanut. Or I might throw in K55 black cat, a Svord peasant, a Higo or a douk douk.

I use all of my knives as well. For a few I buy a second that I store as a backup.

One thing that I’ve learned over the years is that I enjoy using and maintaining my knives more than keeping them in storage. I don’t look at them as monetary investments, but instead as memory and experiences investments. I also think that it’s pretty neat that they will be around longer than I will and my family will get to use them too.

My brother in law has an old Buck 119 that lives outside in his yard and is all beat up, corroded, and worn down. For some weird reason, I want it very bad! It looks cool and is testament to how well built it is.

I generally have two or three laying on my kitchen counter and grab one or another, depending on where I'm going and what I'll be doing. At the moment the three are a ZT 0095, ZT 0562cf, and a Boker Kwaiken. I tend to rotate them out every couple of weeks or so.

Sometimes sub in a 0562, but this is what I carry and actually use just about every day.

I have a group of knives that I rotate through for weekday carry- PM2, Manix2, Manix2 XL, Benchmade 913. Then for weekends I have a different group that I rotate through- Manix2 and Military. (Each group has more than one version of each model.)

Never being one to provide a simple answer to a straight question... lol

My main EDC is a Kershaw Hotwire. That is in my pocket 80% of the time. When I want to change up, I have carried among others, the following:

Kershaw Atmos - In my pocket right now
Kershaw Crown
Rough Rider Barlow
Herbertz limited collection knife
SAK Swiss Army Classic
Opinel #08

If I am dressing up and need a gentleman's knife, these are my first string lineup
Puma IP Armino
Boker Panatela
Kershaw AM 3
Northwood Norfolk
Kizer Feist

If I am out hunting - one of these fixed blades is on my hip
Cabelas Tree Brand (Boker Solingen) drop point knife
Buck 102
Browning Featherweight
I haven't hunted in a long time. The next time I go out, I have a lot more to put through their paces.

For fishing these two live on the boat
MoraKniv Companion - Stainless
Rapala Filet knife.

I use all of my knives . . . except . . .
Mr Stealth.
He's my special boy. I can't bring my self to blemish it so he's a safe king.

This last year or so my most used EDC is . . .
Same knife Para2 but in M4. All though I carry AND USE tons of other knives but I can't do without the M4 for long.

OK now you got me going. I wasn't going it post the ones I use but just the one I don't use.
Some body get out the tranq gun before I go too long . . .
This blade shape has been a real attraction for me; short blade with a long full rounded handle :
Case Trapper (modded)

Cold Steel Ti Lite IV (very modded)
With the Ti Lite VI in a Razelized mod

Look how the smaller one fits in my hand ! ! ! Very Practical.

I carry many with handles like these; note the Ti Lite IV with full length blade albeit thinned and flat ground. Oh man, oh man, oh man ! ! !

The Cami Para2 in S3OV DLC has been carried more than I figured this year and if I use fine diamond stones to touch up the thing cuts quite a long time in challenging materials.
A freekin' modern classic if there ever was one.

Wowbagger, I enjoyed your post. Such enthusiasm!! I used to feel that way about my Colt collection and then it just sat and sat.... I didn't even handle one of them for 10 years and somebody could have stolen many of them and I wouldn't even have known it. Sad but true. I'm selling now. It's time. So far I've sold about 6 revolvers and they have gone to good homes and will become part of somebody else's collection. One was really special... a factory D engraved Colt Diamondback in 22 in new condition.

If you're wondering, I'm one of those 22 guys who likes to punch tiny clusters in targets..... That's where my BF handle came from.

Knives are tools I use, but I really like them. I guess I started that way with guns when I was in my 20's. Probably too old to be a serious collector, but I sure enjoy trying stuff out and using what pleases me.

In my pocket every day. I enjoy using it and it does everything I need done.

I confess that my Folding Utility razor knife gets more use. And undoubtedly I don't need the GEC daily.
But hey it makes me smile!

That knife is awesome. I totally dig it.

The pubic hair in the pic is a little disconcerting though...

Carter Cutlery pipsqueak neck knife, Carter Muteki fixed blade, Al Mar SLB (Stout Little Backup) folder, vintage K-Bar Jack Knife or Case Back Pocket knife.

I must admit, at home I use a rickety old-school Stanley box-cutter to open packages and get gunked up with tape glue....

My everyday use knife is the Ka-Bar Dozier Folding Hunter. So much utility, durable, and great value. I can't believe it is a $20 knife.
