What knives would you *not* have bought?

Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn® Mini Covert. It looks good, but blade get dull after I cut two pieces of paper. Sold it on ebay as used. It was already used. No more Gerber for me. It was time before I found BF.

I would have never bought any of my CCC SAKs, my Gerber AR 3.25, or that crap "Pine Ridge" Cabelas liner I got. Luckily, this forum led me into good knife habits (buying my Delica, Griptilian, Brian Goode fixed blade etc.) In fact, the ONLY thing I was right about is that you can't go wrong with Victorinox :D

Kabar Dozier Thorn.
Does not lock in open position and the company would not do anything fabout it at all, and were rude.

Oh well, lesson learned. No more Kabar for me.

I wish I hadn't bought a CRKT Corkum 1st Strike. It's not a sharpenend prybar but just a prybar because it came without an edge. The pointy skull crusher can do a lot of harm. If you should ever stumble and fall while carrying this knife it will surely tear your flesh.

Who did you buy it from and who was rude to you?

A. G.

i'll pipe in here , i bought a Kabar Dozier Thorn from A.G., nice knife nothing wrong but a little pricey

Well i think we all know what should be done with these knives...

Have them ALL SENT TO MEEEEEE!

Anyways...I liked it alot at first, but my Camillus EDC doesn't see any pocket time anymore.

Benchmade Griptilian drop point.

I love the lock and the blade is great, but I REALLY dislike the feel of the handle. Feels like cheap plastic. The lock and blade overpowered my thinking so I kept it. Then I learned about micarta...I don't think any FRN handles are in my future unless the knife is very small (like a Jester).

Timberline Envoy - Liner lock of Doom, but a nice knife otherwise
S&W Swat CE - I paid way too much for this crappy knife. I'm not sure what I was thinking at the time.
Gerber Urban Companion - It occasionally fills a particular niche in my carry, but I can't for the life of me understand why I felt I had to own it.
No-name Boot Knife - This thing couldn't cut butter, and fills no carrying profile whatsoever
CRKT First Strike - Dullest NIB knife I've ever owned
CRKT A.B.C. - This is indeed a nice knife, no complaints on my part, other than the fact that I have no idea why I bought it. I have never once carried it or used it to cut anything beyond arm-hair and newspaper.
United Cutlery Tac Tanto - Nuff said.

Cheap Valor fixed blade... the handle is made for a child's hand size.

However, I also had a Valor cheap ( $ 0.99) liner lock of perfect size and weight wich gave me years of use and abuse and after I was done with it, gave it away to my brother who still uses the damn thing.

Any that have Gerber or Smith & Wesson on them. They looked cool at the time and I was totally ignorant about knives.

Buck-Strider 881 tanto. No reliable liner lock on a knife made to stab. The saber ground don't let you get a thin edge.

dantzk.

The Sheffield Israely combat knife! It's a P.O.S. and fells like it was made out of a piece of mild steel flat bar.:thumbdn: :thumbdn: :jerkit:

SOG Flash I - Nifty assisted opener, but far too small for my hands
CRKT KISS - Looks really cool, but infact really dangerous, dull and difficult to sharpen.
Kershaw Vapor - Afraid to trust the framelock

Btw. First post! Found this site while trying to find something to replace my POS SOG (see above). After a few weeks of reading, I just bought a Benchmade 707 (plain edge) for EDC, I hope it is everthing I've read!

Sorry this took so long to get back to you, A.G. I purchased it in a store in a town in which I do not live. I called Kabar, and the customer service representative was rude, suggesting that I "fix it myself". Although I did not succeed in fixing the problem with the knife, I did succeed in fixing my problem with the company, simply by not having purchased a knife from them since.

Gerber Paraframe I. It holds an edge about as well as a length of two-by-four. Cute knife, but the quality just wasn't there. I'm gonna get around to replacing it with a Delica one of these days.

I 2nd that!! One of the screws in my 2 month old paraframe fell out causing the lock to fail at the worst possible time.. It's a good thing I have 4 more fingers on that hand. They should have named it the ParaMedic

Ever since I was about thirteen I started studying up and researching before I decided to buy a knife and after a few years started learning about steel designs and formulas. Before that I thought the mass crap coming out of Taiwan were the best knives because they were so visually stunning. They still look good in a case but god forbid you decide to cut something with them

A "Bear MGC Tac II Double Edge Spear by Blackie Collins". Inexpensive at $60 but was more like a $10-$15 knife. Terrible...
