what lights ya carry??

That may be the case, but if SHTF you can always take a mag light and use it as a weapon.........

Agreed wholeheartedly. That's why I'm still debating buying a 4D or bigger Maglite to keep beside my seat. The 4C is a bit too small for my liking for such SD purposes.

I've got a 2d monuted where the blue circle is here.

It fits prefect and doesn't interfere with my leg or anything. I wanted a 3d but it wouldn't fit.

I keep a 4d handy in the backseat as well as the random knife or rifle/pistol whatever i have with me at the time........

That's roughly where I used to keep mine in my old Honda Civic and my Mazda 626 but the knurling was wearing away the plastic where I lodged it between the seat and centre console. I don't want to be doing that in my Audi, hence the reason I ended up taking it out of the car. That and the fact that I hated the poor ringy light output.

Understandable. The main reason i even mounted it in the first place was wal-mart had some stupid deal on 2d's with the clamp mounts for like $20 so i snagged one and went home drilled the mounts onto the center there and it stays right there sturdy and is right at my side if i need it. I've got a smaller better light in my glove box and center console but there's just something about holding those big-a mag lights that makes you feel like a man lol.

I have been carrying a cheap Streamlight for a while, but I want to upgrade. I've been looking at a Fenix...Haven't decided yet.

The 4D is a long light though. I have one in the living room for bumps in the night, but sometimes I find myself wondering if I would have been better off with a shorter and more nimble model. I guess it depends on your size :D.

P2D Q5.

Such a powerful light for the size. And for batteries, I use 900mAh Tenergy rCR-123 rechargeables.

I have a fenix E01 in my keychain and a LD10 for other tasks.
very good flashlights. always amazes everyone who sees them.
but I want to replace the E01 for the LD01 in the keychain.
does anyone have both of them and could post a size comparison pic??

That replaced my regular P2D as my EDC from the time it came out. It's just recently been replaced with the PD20 Q5 because I prefer the looks and grip of the PD20. The P2D Q5 now resides in my EDC bag as my backup.

Have you checked out the NiteCore EZ AA. It's one of, if not the smallest AA flashlight out now IIRC. Check my pic posted higher up for size comparisons. Unfortunately I don't have an E01 or LD01 for reference.

I keep my PD20 in holster in my belt and it's funny, a few times at clubs I've had to turn it on and security was around with their el cheapo lights three or more times the size of mine. For fun I'd cycle through power options to Turbo pretending not to notice their reactions when they see the difference in output over their "big" lights. Priceless the look of reverse "penis envy" for lack of a better term! Yes, smaller is sometimes better! Sometimes..;-)

All of my vehicle have a 3 or 4 D mag light within reach of the driver and other lights in the "tool box". I carry either a Surefire E2D or a LED light made by Coast that I actually purchased at HomeDepot a few months ago. The LED light uses 3 AAA batteries and supposedly put out 105 lumens with battery life of 120 hours. I am a real big fan of the Surefire lights but mine can really go through those expensive 123 batteries.

I have upgrade 3 of my large mag lights to an LED bulb to extend battery life as well.

Do those LED upgrades help any on the mags?

I did it primarily to increase battery life. I don't think that there is much doubt about the LED bulbs drawing much less from the batteries. The beam of light produced is still good and strong but it does seem to be a slightly different color of light. My mag lights are for emergency use should be be a breakdown of the car or a flat tire, etc. I have chosen to keep the big mag lights in the vehicle because they also would make an excellent club should that be necessary in another king of emergency.

I use a Nitecore d2 for a kind of EDC flashlight. I dont have it with me always, but when I do I don't ever really notice it unless I have to get my phone from my pocket. Then the extra bulk I kinda notice, but I have a pretty large phone also.
